A Keratinocyte‐Mast Cell NF‐κB2/CXCL2/IL‐6 Amplification Loop Enhances Cutaneous Antifungal Defense Against C. albicans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mast cells (MCs), key innate immune sentinels at the host–environment interface, serve as primary responders to invading pathogens. However, their specific contribution to host defense against cutaneous Candida albicans (C. albicans) infection and their synergy with other immune and non‐immune cells remain poorly understood. Here, we show that

Compliance of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) following animal bite in Indian population: A systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care
Rabies is a life-threatening zoonotic disease in India, leading to numerous fatalities annually. Despite the availability of effective post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), compliance with completing the vaccination regimen remains low, impeding efforts to ...

Epidemiology, impact and control of rabies in Nepal : a systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Rabies is a vaccine-preventable viral zoonosis belonging to the group of neglected tropical diseases. Exposure to a rabid animal may result in a fatal acute encephalitis if effective post-exposure prophylaxis is not provided.

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Immunogenicity of a protective intradermal DNA vaccine against lassa virus in cynomolgus macaques

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics, 2019
Lassa virus (LASV) is a hemorrhagic fever virus of the Arenaviridae family with high rates of mortality and co-morbidities, including chronic seizures and permanent bilateral or unilateral deafness. LASV is endemic in West Africa and Lassa fever accounts

Depletion of p75NTR in Schwann Cells Driven by Inflammation Mediates Cutaneous Pain in Psoriasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Psoriasis‐like inflammation induces proliferation and molecular remodeling of cutaneous Schwann cells, marked by reduced p75NTR and increased NGF expression. IL‐17A promotes this process, whereas Schwann cell‐specific p75NTR overexpression alleviates cutaneous pain in vivo.

A randomised placebo-controlled trial investigating efficacy and mechanisms of low-dose intradermal allergen immunotherapy in treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis

open access: yesEfficacy and Mechanism Evaluation, 2016
Background: We previously reported that repeated low-dose grass pollen intradermal allergen injection suppresses allergen-induced cutaneous late-phase responses, comparable with conventional high-dose subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy. Objective:

Anaphylactic shock caused by an intradermal skin test-negative antibiotic during general anesthesia -A case report- [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Anaphylaxis during the perioperative period is rare, but it still causes severe cardiovascular and respiratory collapse that can be fatal. In particular, when using antibiotics that have a high risk of hypersensitivity reactions, it is important to ...

Crystal Facet‐Polysaccharide Matching in CFS‐P Nanocrystals Drives Fungal Uptake, Vacuole Destruction, and Selective Antifungal Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Facet‐engineered PVP‐capped CuFeSe2 nanocrystals exhibit potent, selective antifungal activity by strongly binding cell‐wall mannan, enabling vacuolar entry and organelle disruption. High‐index facets show superior mannan affinity, validated by theoretical calculations and experiments. CFS‐P induces vacuolar cavitation, mitochondrial abnormalities, and
