Drug Critical Limits for Urgent Physician Notification

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 120, Issue 1, Page 178-192, July 2026.
Critical limits represent quantitative decision thresholds for drugs that require immediate clinician notification and potential life‐saving intervention. United States hospitals lack a national standard for drug critical limits. We collected critical limits from 417 US hospitals across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.; of these, 411 maintained drug ...

Immune, molecular and genetic profiles of gastric signet ring cell carcinoma: Recent progress and future challenges

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 1, Page 11-29, 1 July 2026.
Abstract Gastric signet ring cell carcinoma (GSRCC) is a special type of gastric cancer common in young women. Diffuse gastric cancer (DGC) begins with intramucosal lesions comprising differentiated GSRCC cells. Genetically, GSRCC and DGC are clonally identical, with their morphology influenced by extracellular Wnt signaling.

Intravenous Vitamin C in Adults with Sepsis in the Intensive Care Unit

New England Journal of Medicine, 2022
Studies that have evaluated the use of intravenous vitamin C in adults with sepsis who were receiving vasopressor therapy in the intensive care unit (ICU) have shown mixed results with respect to the risk of death and organ dysfunction. In this randomized, placebo-controlled trial, we assigned adults who had been in the ICU for no longer than 24 hours ...

Oxalate Nephropathy and Intravenous Vitamin C

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2013
Oxalate nephropathy is a rare condition characterized by extensive calcium oxalate deposition in the renal tubules, resulting in kidney injury. There are primary forms of the disease that arise from genetic mutation causing overproduction of oxalate. More commonly, this condition is seen as a secondary phenomenon.

Vitamin C Pharmacokinetics: Implications for Oral and Intravenous Use

Annals of Internal Medicine, 2004
Vitamin C at high concentrations is toxic to cancer cells in vitro. Early clinical studies of vitamin C in patients with terminal cancer suggested clinical benefit, but 2 double-blind, placebo-controlled trials showed none. However, these studies used different routes of administration. To determine whether plasma vitamin C concentrations vary ...

The Effects of Intravenous Vitamin C on Point-of-Care Glucose Monitoring

Journal of Burn Care & Research, 2015
Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) decreases systemic inflammation and lowers fluid requirements after thermal injury; therefore it has been adopted in many burn centers as an adjunct to resuscitation. However, recent concerns have been expressed over clinically significant hypoglycemic events caused by vitamin C interference with the point-of-care (POC ...
