Ocular safety of repeated intravitreal injections of Carboplatin and Digoxin: A preclinical study on the healthy rabbits

open access: yesPharmacology Research & Perspectives, 2021
To evaluate the ocular safety of intravitreal carboplatin and digoxin injections as a new intravitreal chemotherapy option for retinoblastoma tumor vitreous seeds. Eighteen rabbits were divided randomly into three groups to receive intravitreal injection

Extracellular Vesicles: Classification, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
• EV content maintains cellular homeostasis and is involved in several disease onset and progression. • miRNA export in EVs depends on: RNA‐binding proteins recognizing motif sequences and on epitranscriptomic modifications. • The disclosure of delivery mechanisms is crucial for developing personalized EV‐based therapeutic tools. ABSTRACT Extracellular

DNA Origami Uptake in Y‐79 Retinoblastoma Cells Driven by Oligolysine Coating

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
We show that polymeric coating can enable DNA origami nanoparticle internalization into ocular retinoblastoma cells. Not only are the coated nanoparticles well‐tolerable to the cells, but they also remain mobile in the vitreous of a porcine ex vivo model.

Macular hole closure following treatment of bilateral diffuse uveal melanocytic proliferation (BDUMP) with intravitreal methotrexate and systemic chemotherapy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports
Purpose: This report presents an unusual case of bilateral diffuse uveal melanocytic proliferation (BDUMP) associated with a macular hole that resolved after choroidal thinning following intravitreal methotrexate and systemic chemotherapy. Case report: A

Human papillomavirus 52 positive squamous cell carcinoma of the conjunctiva

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2015
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is strongly associated with several human cancers; the most known genotypes involved being HPV 16 and HPV 18. We report the detection of HPV 52 in a sample taken from a 47-year-old patient with squamous cell carcinoma

Negotiating in a Foreign Land: Understanding the Curious Interactions Between Intracellular Mitochondria and Internalized Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 16, 18 August 2026.
Therapeutic nano‐drug delivery systems interact with cellular mitochondria in a multitude of ways. While the complexity of such interactions disrupts the mitochondrial electron transport chain and increases reactive oxygen species production, thereby contributing to nanoparticle toxicity, they also present unique theranostic opportunities in diseases ...
