Geometrically Nonlinear Analysis of Composite Beams Based Using a Space–Time Finite Element Method

open access: yesAerospace
In this paper, we present a transient-format time-continuous Galerkin finite element method for fully intrinsic geometrically exact beam equations that are energy-consistent.

Generalization of a Double-Point Method to Determine the Intrinsic Viscosity in a Polymer-Solvent Mixture

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2013
A double-point method proposed in literature for the determination of the Intrinsic Viscosity of a polymer-solvent solution and based on the Ram-Moham-Rao single point equation, have been extended to all single-point expressions available in literature ...

Circular Stochastic Fluctuations in SIS Epidemics with Heterogeneous Contacts Among Sub-populations

open access: yes, 2011
The conceptual difference between equilibrium and non-equilibrium steady state (NESS) is well established in physics and chemistry. This distinction, however, is not widely appreciated in dynamical descriptions of biological populations in terms of ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Multivector Field Formulation of Hamiltonian Field Theories: Equations and Symmetries

open access: yes, 1999
We state the intrinsic form of the Hamiltonian equations of first-order Classical Field theories in three equivalent geometrical ways: using multivector fields, jet fields and connections.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Viscometric study of high-cis polybutadiene in toluene solution

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2006
Viscometric measurements, in toluene solution at 30 ºC, were performed with high-cis polybutadiene synthesized by neodymium based catalyst. Six different equations were used to calculate intrinsic viscosities and viscosimetric constant values: Huggins ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Some Recent Developments in the Endochronic Theory with Application to Cyclic Histories [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Constitutive equations with only two easily determined material constants predict the stress (strain) response of normalized mild steel to a variety of general strain (stress) histories, without a need for special unloading-reloading rules. The equations
