Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Asymptotic justification of the intrinsic equations of Koiter's model of a linearly elastic shell [PDF]
International audienceWe show that the intrinsic equations of Koiter's model of a linearly elastic shell can be derived from the intrinsic formulation of the three-dimensional equations of a linearly elastic shell, by using an appropriate a priori ...

Intrinsic optical bi-stability in dense two-level systems is developed for the bad cavity limit where electromagnetic modes are adiabatically eliminated. Each atom interacts via dipole–dipole forces with its nearby spatial distribution of atoms.

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Chemical master versus chemical langevin for first-order reaction networks [PDF]
Markov jump processes are widely used to model interacting species in circumstances where discreteness and stochasticity are relevant. Such models have been particularly successful in computational cell biology, and in this case, the interactions are ...

Geometrically Nonlinear Analysis of Composite Beams Based Using a Space–Time Finite Element Method
In this paper, we present a transient-format time-continuous Galerkin finite element method for fully intrinsic geometrically exact beam equations that are energy-consistent.

Rolling Stiefel Manifolds Equipped with α-Metrics
We discuss the rolling, without slipping and without twisting, of Stiefel manifolds equipped with α-metrics, from an intrinsic and an extrinsic point of view.

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.
