Shifted intrinsic connectivity of central executive and salience network in borderline personality disorder

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2013
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by stable instability of emotions and behavior and their regulation. This emotional and behavioral instability corresponds with a neurocognitive triple network model of psychopathology, which ...

Yeast Assay Highlights the Intrinsic Genomic Instability of Human PML Intron 6 over Intron 3 and the Role of Replication Fork Proteins. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Human acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is characterized by a specific balanced translocation t(15;17)(q22;q21) involving the PML and RARA genes. In both de novo and therapy-related APL, the most frequent PML breakpoints are located within intron 6, and

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Magnetohydrodynamic instability in plasmas with intrinsic magnetization

open access: yesPhysics of Plasmas, 2010
From a magnetofluid description with intrinsic magnetization, a new plasma instability is obtained. The plasma magnetization is produced by the collective electron spin. The instability develops in a nonuniform plasma when the electron concentration and temperature vary along an externally applied magnetic field.

Quantum fluctuations in the spiral phase of the Hubbard model

open access: yes, 1995
We study the magnetic excitations in the spiral phase of the two--dimensional Hubbard model using a functional integral method. Spin waves are strongly renormalized and a line of near--zeros is observed in the spectrum around the spiral pitch $\pm{\bf Q}$

Intrinsic-Stabilization Uni-Directional Quantum Key Distribution Between Beijing and Tianjin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Quantum key distribution provides unconditional security for communication. Unfortunately, current experiment schemes are not suitable for long-distance fiber transmission because of instability or backscattering.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Effects of inert gas addition on the characteristics of spherically expanding hydrogen-methane-air premixed flames in closed combustion vessels

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology
In the serious accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, the presence of steam together with flammable organic compounds affected the hydrogen explosion. To investigate the effects of addition of inert gas, i.e.

Instabilities and Topological Defects in Active Nematics

open access: yes, 2013
We study a continuum model of an extensile active nematic to show that mesoscale turbulence develops in two stages: (i) ordered regions undergo an intrinsic hydrodynamic instability generating walls, lines of stong bend deformations, (ii) the walls relax

TREX1, a predator for treating MSI‐H tumors?

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immunotherapy benefits many patients; yet, some with MSI‐H tumors remain unresponsive despite their high immunogenicity. Xu et al. reveal that TREX1 enables immune evasion by degrading cytosolic DNA and suppressing cGAS–STING–IFN‐I signaling. TREX1 loss restores DNA sensing, increases CD8+ T and NK cell infiltration, and boosts antitumor immunity ...
