Surfaces in E3 invariant under a one parameter group of isometries of E3

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2000
We develop a convenient surface theory in E³ in order to apply it to the class of the surfaces invariant under a one-parameter group of isometries of E³.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Design of Differential Loudspeaker Line Array for Steerable Frequency-Invariant Beamforming

open access: yesSensors
Differential beamforming has attracted much research since it can utilize an array with a small aperture size to form frequency-invariant beampatterns and achieve high directional gains.

Admissibility of Invariant Tests for Means with Covariates [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Methods of Statistics, 2019
For a multinormal distribution with a $p$-dimensional mean vector ${\mbtheta}$ and an arbitrary unknown dispersion matrix ${\mbSigma}$, Rao ([9], [10]) proposed two tests for the problem of testing $ H_{0}:{\mbtheta}_{1} = {\bf 0}, {\mbtheta}_{2} = {\bf 0}, {\mbSigma}~ \hbox{unspecified},~\hbox{versus}~H_{1}:{\mbtheta}_{1} \ne {\bf 0}, {\mbtheta}_{2} ={

On the invariant mean velocity profile for compressible turbulent boundary layers

open access: yes, 2017
An invariant mean velocity profile is derived and validated by direct numerical simulations of compressible turbulent boundary layers (CTBL) for a range of Reynolds number, Mach number and wall temperature.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Willmore-Like Tori in Killing Submersions

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2018
The first variation formula and Euler-Lagrange equations for Willmore-like surfaces in Riemannian 3-spaces with potential are computed and, then, applied to the study of invariant Willmore-like tori with invariant potential in the total space of a ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Invariant surfaces with constant mean curvature in H2 x R

open access: yes, 2008
We classify the profile curves of all surfaces with constant mean curvature in the product space H2 x R, which are invariant under the action of a 1-parameter subgroup of isometries.
