Enhanced High-Rate Capability of Iodide-Doped Li4Ti5O12 as an Anode for Lithium-Ion Batteries

open access: yesBatteries, 2023
Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) is an alternative anode material to substitute commercial graphite for lithium-ion batteries due to its superior long cycle life, small volume change (zero strain), good thermal stability, and relatively high power.

Layered structures of organic/inorganic hybrid halide perovskites

open access: yes, 2016
Organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskites, in which the A cations of an ABX$_3$ perovskite are replaced by organic cations, may be used for photovoltaic and solar thermoelectric applications.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Simple and Safe Spectrophotometric Method for Iodide Determination

open access: yesMakara Journal of Science, 2015
In order to practice green chemistry, a simple and safe spectrophotometric method for iodide determination has been successfully developed based on the formation of a blue starch-iodine complex. Iodide was oxidized to form iodine prior to the addition of

Implications and Practical Applications of the Chemical Speciation of Iodine in the Biological Context

open access: yesFuture Pharmacology, 2022
Iodine is a highly reactive element with a single natural and stable isotopic form (127I). In the biosphere, it is one of the 30 essential elements for life, and its chemical speciation defines its availability and biological activities.

Oxygen-hydrogen fuel cell with an iodine-iodide cathode - A concept [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Fuel cell uses a porous cathode through which is fed a solution of iodine in aqueous iodide solution, the anode is a hydrogen electrode. No activation polarization appears on the cathode because of the high exchange-current density of the iodine-iodide ...

Aircraft measurements of the latitudinal, vertical, and seasonal variations of NMHCs, methyl nitrate, methyl halides, and DMS during the First Aerosol Characterization Experiment (ACE 1) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Canister sampling for the determination of atmospheric mixing ratios of nonmethane hydrocarbons (NMHCs), selected halocarbons, and methyl nitrate was conducted aboard the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) C-130 aircraft over the Pacific and

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

The Iodine/Iodide/Starch Supramolecular Complex

open access: yesMolecules
The nature of the blue color in the iodine–starch reaction (or, in most cases, iodine–iodide-starch reaction, i.e., I2 as well as I− are typically present) has for decades elicited debate.
