Effect of sodium bicarbonate residue on some characteristics of processed meat products

open access: yesFoods and Raw Materials, 2018
Using sodium bicarbonate (SB) in cooking meat products is a controversial subject. The aim of this study was to estimate an effect of different SB concentrations on the quality characteristics and organoleptic properties of meat in Kubideh Kebab, an ...

Determination of Creatinine in Human Urine with Flow Injection Tandem Mass Spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background/Aims: Excretion of urinary compounds in spot urine is often estimated relative to creatinine. For the growing number of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) assays of urine-excreted molecules, a fast and accurate method ...

Peer Reviewed: Ion Chromatography Retrospective [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2001
In the 1960s and early 1970s, various chromatographic methods were used to separate low molecular weight inorganic anions and cations; however, the separations were only moderately efficient, and detecting those analytes that did not absorb UV radiation was rather difficult. It was more common for researchers to determine these analytes by wet-chemical

Machine learning for identifying liver and pancreas cancers through comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis: a case‐control study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel AI‐based diagnostic approach—comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis (CSGSA)—that integrates tumor markers and enriched glycopeptides from serum. Using a neural network model, this method accurately distinguishes liver and pancreatic cancers from healthy individuals.

The development of a purification procedure for Peptide:n-Glycosidase A from Prunus amygdalus : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Peptide-N4-acetyl-β-glucosaminyl) asparagine amidases cleave the amide bond between N-linked glycans at N-acetylglucosamine and asparagine, liberating intact oligosaccharide chains from glycoproteins. Although PNGase A is commonly used by glycobiologists

Software Tools and Approaches for Compound Identification of LC-MS/MS Data in Metabolomics. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The annotation of small molecules remains a major challenge in untargeted mass spectrometry-based metabolomics. We here critically discuss structured elucidation approaches and software that are designed to help during the annotation of unknown compounds.

Biophysical characterization and ion transport with cell‐based and proteoliposome reconstitution assays of invertebrate K+‐Cl− cotransporters

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The K+‐Cl− cotransporters (KCCs) facilitate the symport of ions across the plasma membrane. They participate in physiological processes including neuronal regulation. Here, we characterized KCCs from Drosophila and Hydra vulgaris. Comparative analyses of transporters provide insights into the mechanism of KCC ion transport, regulation, and evolution ...

Applications of Direct Injection Soft Chemical Ionisation-Mass Spectrometry for the Detection of Pre-blast Smokeless Powder Organic Additives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Analysis of smokeless powders is of interest from forensics and security perspectives. This article reports the detection of smokeless powder organic additives (in their pre-detonation condition), namely the stabiliser diphenylamine and its derivatives 2-

Analysis of the regulation of undecaprenyl diphosphate dephosphorylation in Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BacA, PgpB, and YbjG phosphatases are involved in undecaprenyl phosphate (C55P) synthesis in Escherichia coli. We analyzed the lipid contents and the gene expression in the gene‐disruption strains. Undecaprenyl diphosphate (C55PP) level increased in the bacA, ybjG double‐disruption strain, but C55P levels were similar in all strains.

Separations of lipids by silver ion chromatography

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1966
The possibility of separating lipid materials on the basis of the number, type, and position of the unsaturated centers they contain, by virtue of the complexing of these unsaturated bonds with silver ions, provides a relatively recent but now very ...
