Characterization of ion track morphology formed by swift heavy ion irradiation in silicon oxynitride films [PDF]
Amorphous silicon oxynitride (SiOxNy) possess interesting optical and mechanical properties. Here, we present direct evidence for the formation of ion tracks in 1 μm thick silicon oxynitride of different stoichiometries.

Ion Irradiation‐Induced Sinking of Ag Nanocubes into Substrates
Ion irradiation can cause burrowing of nanoparticles in substrates, strongly depending on the material properties and irradiation parameters. In this study, it is demonstrated that the sinking process can be accomplished with ion irradiation of cube ...

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Formation of nano-twinned structure in Ti3AlC2 induced by ion-irradiation [PDF]
In the present study, a nano-twinned microstructure is found in ion irradiated-Ti3AlC2 by the characterizations of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction, combined with grazing incidence X-ray diffraction.

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Mutagenic effect of ion beam irradiation on survival and seedling growth characters of malaysian rice (Oryza sativa l.) variety mr84 [PDF]
Ion beam irradiation has emerged as an excellent tool for mutation breeding to produce new promising mutant variety. Ion beam has been found to show high relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of growth inhibition. The effects of ion beam radiation were

Ion exchange in KTiOPO_4 crystals irradiated by Copper and Hydrogen ions
Cs(+)-K+ ion exchanges were produced on KTiOPO4 crystals which is prior irradiated by Cu+ can H+ ions. The energy and dose of implanted Cu+ ions are 1.5 MeV and 0.5 x 10(14) ions/cm2, and that of H+ are 300 keV and 1 x 10(16) ions/cm2, respectively. The temperature of ions exchange is 430 degrees C, and the time range from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. The
