High Temperature Ion Conducting Ceramics
Research in materials today has progressed from materials exhibiting structural functionality to those exhibiting electronic functionality. The study of solid-state ionics ushers in a new era of chemically functional materials. This chemical functionality arises out of the defect equilibria of these materials, and results in the ability to transport ...

Trapped individual ion at absolute zero temperature [PDF]
Laser cooling and ion trapping have progressed to such an extent that one can now speak of realizing a confined atom at absolute zero temperature. In this short publication, we analyze an experiment toward such realization using a single Ba + ion in a miniature rf trap.

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Recommendations for reporting ion mobility Mass Spectrometry measurements [PDF]
Here we present a guide to ion mobility mass spectrometry experiments, which covers both linear and nonlinear methods: what is measured, how the measurements are done, and how to report the results, including the uncertainties of mobility and collision ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Temperature dependence of the X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectra at the Pr $L_{3}$- and Tb $L_{3}$-edges was measured for the (Pr$_{1-y}$Tb$_{y})_{0.7}$Ca$_{0.3}$CoO$_{3}$ system, in which a metal-insulator (MI) and spin-state (SS ...

A Two-Temperature Model of the Intracluster Medium [PDF]
We investigate evolution of the intracluster medium (ICM), considering the relaxation process between the ions and electrons. According to the standard scenario of structure formation, ICM is heated by the shock in the accretion flow to the gravitational

This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Strategies for electrolyte modification of lithium-ion batteries under low-temperature environments [PDF]
Because of their high energy density, high voltage platform, extended cycle life, lack of memory effect, low self-discharge rate, environmental friendliness, and quick charging, lithium-ion batteries, or LIBs, are a vital component of contemporary ...

Collisional activation of ions in RF ion traps and ion guides: The effective ion temperature treatment [PDF]
Ion transfer and storage using inhomogeneous radio frequency (RF) electric fields in combination with gas-assisted ion cooling and focusing constitutes one of the basic techniques in mass spectrometry today. The RF motion of ions in the bath gas environment involves a large number of ion-neutral collisions that leads to the internal activation of ions ...
