Robust Deadbeat Predictive Current Control of IPMSM Under Position Sensor‐Less Occasions With Carrier Harmonics Injection

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a robust deadbeat predictive current control method for sensorless IPMSM drives. The method exploits switching‐frequency carrier harmonics to simultaneously estimate motor parameters and rotor position, thereby resolving the rank deficiency issue of model‐based approaches.

Asymmetric T‐Shaped Notching Rotor Design for Torque Ripple and Cogging Torque Reduction in Interior Permanent Magnet Motors

open access: yesInternational Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) are regarded as the most promising candidate for electric vehicle (EV) propulsion systems due to their superior power density, efficiency, and robust rotor structure. However, mitigating torque ripple and cogging torque remains a critical challenge for ensuring the smooth operation of such machines.

Functional Recycling and Reuse of Nd–Fe–B Permanent Magnets from Various Waste Streams for a more Sustainable and Resilient Electromobility

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 7, April 2025.
Due to the increasing demand and growing importance of resilient and sustainable supply chains, the use of recycled and reused Nd–Fe–B magnets in e‐mobility applications such as Pedelecs, e‐Scooters, and Hoverboards is being investigated. It can be shown that the corresponding motors with recycled magnets do not exhibit any loss of performance while at

Design and analysis of a novel asymmetric PM‐assisted synchronous reluctance motor used for electric vehicles

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper proposes a novel APMA‐SynRM used for the EVs. A design method that can make the PM torque and reluctance torque reach maximum at same current angle is investigated and the accuracy of the design method is validated. Besides, the performances of APMA‐SynRM and corresponding PMA‐SynRM are analysed and compared.
