Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients With Osteosarcoma: Local Control Outcomes With Dosimetric Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Osteosarcoma is a radioresistant tumor that may benefit from stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for locoregional control in metastatic/recurrent disease. We report institutional practice patterns, outcomes, toxicity, and failures in osteosarcoma patients treated with SBRT.

Adverse events in rheumatoid arthritis patients under antimalarial treatment—Is there cardiovascular compromise?

open access: yesFrontiers in Drug Safety and Regulation, 2023
Introduction: The antimalarials chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine have been used for several decades in treating malaria and some autoimmune diseases—mainly rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)—with excellent efficacy and ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Degaussification of twin-beam and nonlocality in the phase space

open access: yes, 2004
We show that inconclusive photon subtraction (IPS) on twin-beam produces non-Gaussian states that violate Bell's inequality in the phase-space. The violation is larger than for the twin-beam itself irrespective of the IPS quantum efficiency. The explicit

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Teleportation improvement by inconclusive photon subtraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Inconclusive photon subtraction (IPS) is a conditional measurement scheme to force nonlinear evolution of a given state. In IPS the input state is mixed with the vacuum in a beam splitter and then the reflected beam is revealed by ON/OFF photodetection ...

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Building Students' Learning Experience in Online Learning During Pandemic

open access: yesAl-Ishlah: Jurnal Pendidikan, 2021
The practice of online learning during a pandemic is ideally able to provide independent learning for students. However, what happens is the loss of a meaningful learning experience.
