Effects of chemical and biological warfare agent decontaminants on trace survival: Impact on fingermarks deposited on paper

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, Volume 71, Issue 3, Page 1405-1419, May 2026.
Abstract Chemical and biological events present a challenging environment for forensic scientists to perform their work. This research is the follow‐up of the previous article that investigated the impact of decontaminants on fingermarks deposited on glass.

Exceptional Longevity Modifying Allele APOE2 Promotes DNA Signaling Pathways Resisting Cellular Senescence in Human Neurons

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
Neurons expressing APOE2 were more resistant to endogenous DNA damage, activated transcriptional signaling pathways associated with DNA repair, and were resilient to stress‐induced DNA damage and cellular senescence. In contrast, APOE4 neurons exhibited elevated expression of rRNA repetitive elements and were prone to becoming senescent.

Decellularized Aged Bruch's Membrane Confers Unique Biochemical Cues to Retinal Pigment Epithelium for In Vitro Modeling of Age‐Related Macular Degeneration

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
A Bruchs membrane (BrM) mimic based on aged decellularized BrM was developed and differentially expressed proteins in aged dECM‐BrM that may provide specific biochemical cues fundamental to model AMD in vitro were identified. RPE culture on aged dECM‐BrM developed certain AMD‐like features including reduced TEER and expression of drusen components ...

Nonlinear Association of the Triglyceride–Glucose Index With Hyperuricemia Among Young Chinese Adults

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Hypertension, Volume 28, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The triglyceride–glucose (TyG) index is a practical surrogate of insulin resistance, but evidence on its association with hyperuricemia (HUA) in young adults is limited. We examined the nonlinear association between TyG and HUA in a young Chinese population. This cross‐sectional study included 6343 adults aged 18–45 years who underwent routine

Chelator-Free Radiolabeling of SERRS Nanoparticles for Whole-Body PET and Intraoperative Raman Imaging

open access: yes, 2017
A single contrast agent that offers whole-body non-invasive imaging along with the superior sensitivity and spatial resolution of surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) imaging would allow both pre-operative mapping and intraoperative ...
