Simultaneous enhancement of upconversion luminescence and photoelectric effect in NaYF4:Yb3+/Tm3+/Zr4+ tri-doped microcrystals

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2023
β -NaYF _4 : Yb ^3+ /Tm ^3+ /Zr ^4+ microcrystals are synthesized by a facile hydrothermal route. The up-conversion (UC) luminescence and photoelectric effects are enhanced simultaneously with the introduction of Zr ^4+ ions under IR excitation. With the

Synthetic Routes to Therapeutic Agents Via Masked Functionalities: From Orthogonal Peptide Crosslink to Photothermal Cancer Prodrug [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The theonellamides are a family of compounds distinguished by their crosslinking ô-histidinoalanine (ô-HAL) residue. Part one of this dissertation details the synthesis of an orthogonally protected ô-HAL building block that will be incorporated into a ...

Nanoscale Spatial Organization of ARC High‐ and Low‐Order Assemblies at Excitatory Synapses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARC (Activity‐Regulated Cytoskeleton‐Associated protein) mediates synaptic plasticity by forming nanoscale assemblies in neurons. Using super‐resolution microscopy and time‐resolved anisotropy with targeted tagging, the study reveals low‐order ARC assemblies at synapses colocalizing with AMPARs, semi‐circular structures at endocytic zones, and 60–80 nm

Identification of restorers and maintainers for CMS lines of rice (Oryza sativa L.) under shallow low land condition. [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2010
Based on the pollen fertility (%) and spikelet fertility (%), ten genotypes were identified as potential restorers. Among thegenotypes RPHR 203-3 and R 1216-6 have been identified as potential restorers for all three lines (CRMS 31A, CRMS 32Aand IR ...

IIT teams use plant extract, heat to kill skin cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
“Uptake of the nanoformulation is nearly the same by normal and cancerous cells. But the extract produces elevated levels of ROS only in cancerous cells. Right now we don’t know the precise mechanism by which higher ROS is generated inside cancer cells,”

Fully Humanized Bispecific T Cell Engager Shows Potent Activity in Central Nervous System and Peripheral Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of a fully humanized bispecific T cell engager targeting IL13RA2, a tumor‐associated antigen enriched in glioblastoma. This off‐the‐shelf immunotherapy drives potent, antigen‐dependent T cell activation and tumor killing, and prolongs survival in experimental GBM and other solid tumors models without detectable off ...

Folate receptor-targeted mixed polysialic acid micelles for combating rheumatoid arthritis: in vitro and in vivo evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with chronic inflammation. The suppression of inflammation is key to the treatment of RA. Glucocorticoids (GCs) are classical anti-inflammatory drugs with several disadvantages such as poor water ...

Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.
