Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Anoxia Events in “The Boring Billion”

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 449-486., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Synergistic Effects of Genetic Variants of Glucose Homeostasis and Lifelong Exposures to Cigarette Smoking, Female Hormones, and Dietary Fat Intake on Primary Colorectal Cancer Development in African and Hispanic/Latino American Women

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
BackgroundDisparities in cancer genomic science exist among racial/ethnic minorities. Particularly, African American (AA) and Hispanic/Latino American (HA) women, the 2 largest minorities, are underrepresented in genetic/genome-wide studies for cancers ...

Coupling the near-infrared fluorescent dye IR-780 with cabazitaxel makes renal cell carcinoma chemotherapy possible

open access: yesBiomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, 2019
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has always been considered resistant to chemotherapy. IR-780 is a near-infrared fluorescent (NIRF) dye that can be efficiently taken up by RCC cells. Cabazitaxel is a cytotoxic drug that interferes with mitosis by acting on tubulin.

Enhanced Human Antigen‐Specific B Cell Responses Using In Vitro 3D Tonsil Cultures Containing Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a fully human 3D tonsil cell culture system incorporating supportive stromal cells that better sustains and activates immune cells than conventional methods. The model generates stronger, more targeted antibody responses to viral antigens and vaccines, providing a physiologically relevant and entirely human platform for studying immune ...

Photothermal‐Activated Antibacterial Amyloid‐Polyphenol‐Iron Hydrogels for Synergistic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We report a thermally triggered supramolecular hydrogel (LTFe) formed by Fe3+ and tannic acid on lysozyme amyloid fibrils. Fe3+ enables rapid gelation and photothermal transduction with an efficiency of 88.56%. The LTFe hydrogel exhibits excellent biocompatibility, potent antibacterial activity against E. coli and S.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and
