The distribution of iridoids in Bignoniaceae

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 2000
The distribution of iridoids among the tribes of Bignoniaceae is shown. In the present work, 18 species from the tribes Bignonieae and Tecomeae as well as one from Eccremocarpeae have been investigated. These data combined with those obtained through a literature review were analysed and showed that iridoids occur predominantly in the tribe Tecomeae ...

Iridoids. A Review

Journal of Natural Products, 1980
Tre review presents a glossary of the iridoid glycosides, secoiridoids, bis-iridoids, and non-glycosidic iridoids. The following information is present for each compound, when available: structural formula, molecular formula, molecular weight, mp and [alpha]D values, uv, ir, 1H-nmr, 13C-nmr, and ms data, as well as mp and [alpha]D values for the ...

Iridoids of Rauwolfia grandiflora☆

Phytochemistry, 1994
Abstract From the bark of Rauwolfia grandiflora a new monoterpenoid δ-lactone, isoboonein, was isolated together with boonein, loganin and loganic acid. The structure of isoboonein, established by spectroscopical methods, was confirmed by partial synthesis from loganic acid.

Iridoid and seco-iridoid glucosides from Chioccoca alba (Rubiaceae)

Phytochemistry, 1999
Phytochemical investigation of Chioccoca alba afforded three new iridoids, alboside I, alboside II and alboside III, and a new seco-iridoid alboside V. Alboside IV showed moderate activity towards the DNA repair-deficient mutant RS321 of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Iridoids from Mentzelia cordifolia

Phytochemistry, 1995
Abstract From the aerial parts of Mentzelia cordifolia , 11 known compounds, seven phenolics and four iridoids have been identified. In addition, two new iridoids, i.e. mentzefoliol and glucosylmentzefoliol, have been isolated and characterized. Their structures have been elucidated mainly by means of spectroscopic data.

Biosynthesis of iridoids in Syringa and Fraxinus: Carbocyclic iridoid precursors

Phytochemistry, 1995
Feeding experiments with deuterium-labelled precursors to Fraxinus excelsior, Syringa josikaea and S. vulgaris have shown that the biosynthesis of the oleoside-type secoiridoids (e.g. oleuropein) proceeds via iridodial, iridotrial, deoxy-loganic acid aglucon and deoxy-loganic acid.
