Abstract Background Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is standard treatment for peritoneal metastases in Sweden. Prolonged postoperative ileus (PPOI) is a common complication following major abdominal surgery and is associated with increased morbidity and prolonged hospitalization.
