The Effect of Irradiation on the Jeans Mass in Fragmenting Self-Gravitating Protostellar Discs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
When a self-gravitating disc is subject to irradiation, its propensity to fragmentation will be affected. The strength of self-gravitating disc stresses is expected to dictate disc fragmentation: as the strength of these torques typically decrease with increasing sound speed, it is reasonable to assume, to first-order, that disc fragmentation is ...

Studying Coulomb correction at EIC and EicC

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
We study the gauge link contribution to the dipole type transverse momentum dependent distributions of coherent photons, which is conventionally referred to as the Coulomb correction.

Proton irradiation of simple gas mixtures: Influence of irradiation parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
In order to get information about the influence of irradiation parameters on radiolysis processes of astrophysical interest, methane gas targets were irradiated with 6.5 MeV protons at a pressure of 1 bar and room temperature.

Advantages and limitations of navigation‐based multicriteria optimization (MCO) in selectively sparing pharyngeal constrictor muscles in head and neck radiotherapy treatment planning

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Sparing pharyngeal constrictor muscles (PCMs) during radiotherapy improves patient‐reported swallowing function. This study aimed to explore the feasibility of integrating knowledge‐based planning (KBP) with multicriteria optimization (MCO) in Eclipse v18.0 to selectively spare PCM, quantify the required trade‐off in prophylactic ...

The edge visualization metric: Quantifying the improvement of lung SBRT target definition with 4D CBCT

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Four‐dimensional cone‐beam CT (4D CBCT) incorporates oversampling of 3D data to reconstruct multi‐phase CBCT data sets representing distinct phases of the breathing cycle based on a diaphragmatic correlate of respiratory motion. Motion artifacts and blurring can be reduced relative to three‐dimensional cone‐beam (3D CBCT), allowing ...

Producing high quality cranial SRS plans with 4Pi planning technique in a commercial clinical solution

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To generate high‐quality stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) plans for single cranial lesions using 4Pi planning technique and compare these to our clinical “status quo” plans. Methods Eighteen vestibular schwannoma (VS) patients previously planned with Varian Eclipse RapidArc and treated on a Varian TrueBeam using 6FFF MV photon beams ...

Direct Evidence for Modulated Irradiation of Secondary Components in Dwarf Novae during Superoutbursts [PDF]

open access: yesActa Astronomica, 61, 59-69,2011, 2011
Contribution from the irradiated secondary component is detected in the light curves of five dwarf novae observed during superoutbursts. Their superhump light curves show that irradiation is modulated with the superhump phase. This strengthens the new interpretation of superhumps (Smak 2009) as being due to irradiation controlled mass transfer rate ...

Graphene defect formation by extreme ultraviolet generated photoelectrons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We have studied the effect of photoelectrons on defect formation in graphene during extreme ultraviolet (EUV) irradiation. Assuming the major role of these low energy electrons, we have mimicked the process by using low energy primary electrons. Graphene is irradiated by an electron beam with energy lower than 80 eV.

Synergistic Radiation Effects in PPD CMOS Image Sensors Induced by Neutron Displacement Damage and Gamma Ionization Damage

open access: yesSensors
The synergistic effects on the 0.18 µm PPD CISs induced by neutron displacement damage and gamma ionization damage are investigated. The typical characterizations of the CISs induced by the neutron displacement damage and gamma ionization damage are ...
