The effect of initial microstructure on the irradiation hardening of the W fiber in Wf/W–Y2O3 composites

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Tungsten fiber-reinforced tungsten (Wf/W) composites are promising candidates for plasma facing materials for fusion devices. The hardening behaviors of unrecrystallized W fiber (NRX-W fiber) and fully recrystallized W fiber (RX-W fiber) in the Wf/W–Y2O3

Ion irradiation effects on FeCrAl-ODS ferritic steel

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2018
The correlation between microstructure and mechanical property of ion irradiated 12Cr-6Al ODS ferritic steel was studied. Ion irradiation experiments were performed using 10.5 MeV Fe ions up to the nominal displacement damage of 20 dpa with the damage ...

Proton and Au-ion irradiation induced damage and hardening in ferritic/martensitic steel

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2021
Ferritic/martensitic (F/M) steel was irradiated by proton and Au-ion at 400 °C to investigate the irradiation damage and hardening behavior. For the samples irradiated by proton, dislocation loops and dislocation lines were found in F/M steels and the ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

The Effect of Yttrium Addition on the Microstructure and Irradiation Hardening in V-4Cr-4Ti Alloy under Self-Ion Irradiation

open access: yesMetals, 2021
Microstructure and irradiation hardening of V-4Cr-4Ti alloys with different yttrium (Y) contents were studied by self-ion irradiation at 550 °C via TEM and nano-indentation test technology.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Machine learning predictions of irradiation embrittlement in reactor pressure vessel steels

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials, 2022
Irradiation increases the yield stress and embrittles light water reactor (LWR) pressure vessel steels. In this study, we demonstrate some of the potential benefits and risks of using machine learning models to predict irradiation hardening extrapolated ...

Properties of Potassium Doped and Tantalum Containing Tungsten after Heavy Ion Irradiation

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
Tungsten potassium (WK) alloy has been reported as one of the ideal plasma-facing materials (PFMs). Tantalum alloying is a good method to improve the mechanical properties of tungsten.

Hardening of KCl by Electron and Gamma Irradiation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 1963
Measurements of the flow stress and F-band coloration have been made at room temperature on a number of different samples of KCl as a function of gamma and electron irradiation. The rate of increase of flow stress with irradiation is found to be greater (or smaller) in those samples and for those irradiation conditions for which the coloring rate is ...

Long‐Term Efficacy of Immunotherapy in Autoimmune Autonomic Ganglionopathy—A 10‐Year Follow Up Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy (AAG) is a rare but potentially treatable cause of severe autonomic failure. Evidence guiding long‐term immunotherapy, treatment sequencing, and residual autonomic impairment is limited. We evaluated long‐term treatment response, residual autonomic dysfunction, and relapse patterns in patients with
