Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Analysis and Optimization of Exergy Flows inside a Transcritical CO2 Ejector for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Cycles

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
In this study, the exergy analysis of a CO2 (R744) two-phase ejector was performed using a 1D model for both single and double choking conditions. The impact of the back pressure on the exergy destruction and exergy efficiencies was presented to evaluate

The role of temperature in the magnetic irreversibility of type-I Pb superconductors

open access: yes, 2011
Evidence of how temperature takes part in the magnetic irreversibility in the intermediate state of a cylinder and various disks of pure type-I superconducting lead is presented.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Investigation of a Hybridized Cascade Trigeneration Cycle Combined with a District Heating and Air Conditioning System Using Vapour Absorption Refrigeration Cooling: Energy and Exergy Assessments

open access: yesEnergies
The insufficiency of energy supply and availability remains a significant global energy challenge. This work proposes a novel approach to addressing global energy challenges by testing the supercritical property and conversion of low-temperature thermal ...

Irreversibility Analysis and Numerical Simulation in a Finned-Tube Heat Exchanger Equipped with Block Shape Vortex Generator [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2015
In this paper the effect of block shape Vortex Generators (VGs) on an air-water fin-tube heat exchanger has been studied experimentally using exergy analysis method.

On Thermodynamic Interpretation of Transfer Entropy

open access: yesEntropy, 2013
We propose a thermodynamic interpretation of transfer entropy near equilibrium, using a specialised Boltzmann’s principle. The approach relates conditional probabilities to the probabilities of the corresponding state transitions.

Effective Theories for Circuits and Automata

open access: yes, 2012
ing an effective theory from a complicated process is central to the study of complexity. Even when the underlying mechanisms are understood, or at least measurable, the presence of dissipation and irreversibility in biological, computational and social ...

Redox regulation meets metabolism: targeting PRDX2 to prevent hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PRDX2 acts as a central redox hub linking metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In normal hepatocytes, PRDX2 maintains redox balance and metabolic homeostasis under oxidative stress. In contrast, during malignant transformation, PRDX2 promotes oncogenic signaling, stemness, and tumor initiation ...

Underemployment and capital irreversivility in a unionized overlaping generations economy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
In a unionized OLG model, it is shown that steady-state underutilization of labour and equipment can be due to the combination of the two following elements: (i) Irreversibility of capital, technology and skill decisions, (ii) Firm specific shocks on ...
