Thermodynamics of Fatigue: Degradation-Entropy Generation Methodology for System and Process Characterization and Failure Analysis

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Formulated is a new instantaneous fatigue model and predictor based on ab initio irreversible thermodynamics. The method combines the first and second laws of thermodynamics with the Helmholtz free energy, then applies the result to the degradation ...

Mesoscopic non-equilibrium thermodynamics approach to the dynamics of polymers

open access: yes, 2001
We present a general formalism able to derive the kinetic equations of polymer dynamics. It is based on the application of nonequilibrium thermodynamics to analyze the irreversible processes taking place in the conformational space of the macromolecules.

Irreversible Thermodynamics of Black Holes.

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1977
Black holes are shown to obey the principles of irreversible thermodynamics in the form of a fluctuation-dissipation theorem for their zero-point quantum fluctuations. Moreover Hawking radiation is shown to be related to the macroscopic radiation of a nonstationary black holes in accordance with Onsager's principle.

From Single Atoms to Nanoparticles: Pathways Toward Efficient and Durable Pt/TiO2 Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Platinum single atoms on TiO2 nanosheets evolve into clusters and nanoparticles under ethanol photoreforming and thermal treatments. By controlling deposition and post‐treatments, particle size and location on specific facets are modulated. The study reveals how stability pathways determine efficiency, guiding the design of more durable photocatalysts.

Entropic Constitutive Relation and Modeling for Fourier and Hyperbolic Heat Conductions

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
Most existing phenomenological heat conduction models are expressed by temperature and heat flux distributions, whose definitions might be debatable in heat conductions with strong non-equilibrium.

Modeling, Simulation, and Reconstruction of 2-Reservoir Heat-to-Power Processes in Finite-Time Thermodynamics

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
The connection between endoreversible models of Finite-Time Thermodynamics and the corresponding real running irreversible processes is investigated by introducing two concepts which complement each other: Simulation and Reconstruction.

Information Landscape and Flux, Mutual Information Rate Decomposition and Entropy Production

open access: yes, 2017
We explore the dynamics of information systems. We show that the driving force for information dynamics is determined by both the information landscape and information flux which determines the equilibrium time reversible and the nonequilibrium time ...

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.
