Self‐Stratifying Porous Silicones with Enhanced Liquid Infusion and Protective Skin Layer for Biofouling Prevention

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 8, Issue 2, January 22, 2021., 2021
A self‐stratifying porous silicone (SPS) with bulk porosity and a pore‐free, surface “skin layer” is developed to improve longevity of liquid‐infused silicones. Liquid infusion of SPS with a compatible oil creates a slippery material with increased oil capacity and improved oil retention under accelerated aging.

Development and Validation of a Novel ELISA for the Specific Detection of Antibodies against Mycobacterium avium Subspecies paratuberculosis Based on a Chimeric Polyprotein

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Bovine paratuberculosis (PTB) is caused by Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP). The optimization of detection tests specific for MAP is crucial to improve PTB control. In this work, we aimed to develop and validate a diagnostic tool based on an ELISA to specifically detect anti‐MAP antibodies from bovine serum samples.

Whole-Genome Analysis of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis IS900 distribution reveals strain type-specific modalities

open access: yes, 2022
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (Map) is the etiological agent of paratuberculosis or Johne’s disease that causes chronic intestinal inflammation in ruminants.

Characterization of IS900 loci in Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis and development of multiplex PCR typing [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 2000
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis is a pathogen that causes chronic inflammation of the intestine in many animals, including primates, and is implicated in Crohn's disease in humans. It differs from other members of the M. avium complex in having 14-18 copies of IS900 inserted into conserved loci in its genome.

Insertion Sequence IS 900 Revisited [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 2006
ABSTRACT Many studies investigating Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis in Crohn's disease have used molecular detection of IS 900 in clinical samples, but some have described polymorphisms in IS 900 as variants of this ...

Specific detection of Mycobacterium paratuberculosis by DNA hybridisation with a fragment of the insertion element IS900. [PDF]

open access: yesGut, 1991
This paper describes the evaluation of a newly developed DNA probe for Mycobacterium paratuberculosis. DNA probe PCR278 is a 278 bp fragment obtained by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of the 5'-region of IS900, an insertion element contained in the genome of M paratuberculosis.

IS900 PCR to detect Mycobacterium paratuberculosis in retail supplies of whole pasteurized cows' milk in England and Wales [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1996
IS900 PCR for Mycobacterium paratuberculosis was applied to cream, whey, and pellet fractions of centrifuged whole cows' milk. The test and simultaneous control reactions gave correct results for spiked milk and for native milk samples obtained directly from M. paratuberculosis-free, subclinically infected, and clinically infected cows.

Occurrence Of The Is900 Gene In Mycobacterium Avium Complex Derived From Hiv Patients

open access: yes, 1999
The occurrence of the insertion sequence IS900 in Mycobacterium avium subsp. avium strains isolated from HIV infected patients has been investigated. In this study, genomic DNA from 62 mycobacterial isolates [31 strains of M.

Detection methods for Mycobacterium avium subsp paratuberculosis in milk and milk products: a review

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2008
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) is the etiologic agent of paratuberculosis, a disease with considerable economic impact, principally on dairy cattle herds.
