Sustainable control of Dalbulus maidis: A field study with entomopathogenic fungi

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 11, Page 1156-1164, November 2025.
Dalbulus maidis, a plant pathogen vector, poses a serious threat to maize production and food security. We investigated the potential synergistic effects between formulations based on entomopathogenic fungi and corn hybrids with varying resistance to maize stunt complex and Maize rayado fino virus. The combined management of M. anisopliae + B. bassiana

Isolation and characterization of an Isaria fumosorosea isolate infecting the Asian citrus psyllid in Florida

open access: yesJournal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2008
A fungal pathogen that killed adult Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Asian citrus psyllid) (Hemiptera: Psyllidae) in Florida citrus groves during the fall of 2005 was identified and characterized. Investigation of this pathogen is important because D. citri vectors citrus greening disease (Huanglongbing), which was reported in Florida in 2005.

Enniatin Mycotoxins in Food: A Systematic Review of Global Occurrence, Biosynthesis, and Toxicological Impacts on In Vitro Human Cell Models

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 24, Issue 5, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Enniatins (ENNs) are emerging mycotoxins mainly produced by Fusarium species. They frequently contaminate cereals and cereal‐based products. Despite their widespread occurrence, these mycotoxins are not yet regulated, but concerns about their potential health effects due to dietary exposure exist.

Vertical Zonal Distribution Patterns of Entomopathogenic Fungi in the Changbai Mountain

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2025.
Entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) distribution was divided into high‐ and low‐elevation patterns. EPF species diversity in the same vegetation belt was unaffected by altitude. EPF tended to evolve toward broadleaved forest habitats. ABSTRACT Entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) are critical drivers of ecosystem processes such as pest regulation and material cycling.

Are Entomopathogenic Fungal-based Insecticides and Insect Growth Regulator Mixtures Effective Against the Citrus Mealybug, Planococcus citri (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae), Feeding on Coleus, Solenostemon scutellarioides, Plants under Greenhouse Conditions?

open access: yesHortScience, 2023
The citrus mealybug, Planococcus citri, is an insect pest of greenhouse-grown horticultural crops. Citrus mealybug causes plant damage when feeding on plant leaves, stems, flowers, and fruits, resulting in a substantial economic loss.

Biological invasion by the cycad‐specific scale pest Aulacaspis yasumatsui (Diaspididae) into Cycas revoluta (Cycadaceae) populations on Amami‐Oshima and Okinawa‐jima, Japan

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, Volume 40, Issue 4, Page 280-291, July 2025.
This article details the invasion of cycad aulacaspis scale into the islands of Okinawa‐Jima and Amami‐Oshima. Several recommendations are proposed in this article by members of the IUCN cycad specialist group and experts in the biological control of this scale insect.

Inoculation and conservation of the biocontrol agent European earwig in Washington pear orchards

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 3, Page 246-259, March 2025.
European earwigs (Forficula auricularia sensu lato) (Dermaptera: Forficulidae) were collected in cardboard shelters and released in pear (Pyrus communis, Rosaceae) orchards for biocontrol of pear psylla (Cacopsylla pyricola; Hemiptera: Psyllidae). Earwigs failed to establish in commercial orchards using broad‐spectrum insecticides but increased in ...

Pathogenicity and proteome production of Isaria fumosorosea (=Paecilomyces Fumosoroseus) (WISE) isolates against lemon butterfly, Papilio demoleus (Papilionidae: lepidoptera)

open access: yes, 2015
The pathogenic potential and catalytic triad conserved amino acids of the isolates Isaria fumosorosea (=Paecilomyces fumosoroseus) (Ifr1 and Ifr2) in response to Papilio demoleus was analysed. The isolates showed its potential in killing P.

Endophytic Colonization of Pepper (Capsicum annum) Controls Aphids (Myzus persicae Sulzer)

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Aphids are among the most harmful crop pests, damaging plants by sucking sap or by transmitting pathogenic viruses. Plant infestation by aphids depends on their population growth.
