Significant Association Between Low Mitochondrial DNA Content in Peripheral Blood Leukocytes and Ischemic Stroke

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2017
BackgroundCumulative evidence has shown that low mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) content is related to elevated oxidative stress and atherosclerosis, which play important roles in ischemic stroke.

Network Desynchronization with Sine Waves: from Synchrony to Asynchrony by Periodic Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Exogenous alternating current fields are explored and interact with cerebral cortex slow waves in vitro and in silico. Varying frequency and amplitude of sine waves result in distinct network dynamics, from phase‐locking and entrainment to desynchronization. These responses occupy specific regions within the parameter space.

A High‐Fidelity RNA‐Targeting Cas13X Downregulates Connexin43 in Macroglia: A Novel Neuroprotective Strategy for Glaucoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study highlights the role of connexin43 (Cx43) in mediating glia activation and neuroinflammation in glaucoma. Using Cx43 knockout mice, it is shown that macroglial cells‐derived Cx43 modulates microglial activation, proliferation, migration, and polarization.

Choroid Plexus Fibroblast–ILC2 Niche Promotes Adult Hippocampal Neurogenesis after Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the role of group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2) in the choroid plexus (ChP) following traumatic brain injury (TBI). ILC2 accumulation alleviates immune infiltration, preserves hippocampal integrity, and improves sensory‐motor and memory functions.

Dual‐Energy CT‐Based Assessment of Thrombotic Heterogeneity for Predicting Stroke Source and Response to Machine Thrombectomy: A Step Toward Visualization Thrombus Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The research indicates that dual energy CT scanning can accurately predict the stroke source and clinical outcomes by analyzing thrombus heterogeneity. Based on histopathological analysis of thrombus components, these scans are better able to display thrombus details than standard CT scans, which is helpful for the development of visual navigation ...
