Factors Influencing Isolation of Islets of Langerhans
Diabetes, 1989More efficient methods of islet isolation must be developed for islet transplantation to become clinically routine. During collagenase dispersal of human pancreas, an amorphous, viscous, gellike material often develops and entraps large numbers of islets, thereby reducing the yield.

[Islets of Langerhans transplantation].
Nephrologie & therapeutique, 2007The objective of future therapy of type 1 diabetes is to prevent the development of the chronic complications of the disease, while reducing the constraints imposed by treatment and eliminating the risk of hypoglycaemia. In other words, the aim is to ensure automatic glycaemic control like the normal pancreas. We can then talk about a cure for diabetes.

Microtubule interactions in islets of Langerhans.
Hormone and metabolic research. Supplement series, 1980Morphologic and functional studies have implicated islet microtubules in the transport of the B-cell secretory product form the endoplasmic reticulum to the peripheral pool of secretory vesicles. The participation of the microtubular apparatus in the insulin release mechanism appears to be mediated through an increased rate of tubulin synthesis and of ...

Transplantation of islets of Langerhans
Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, 1994The present study attempts to evaluate the possibility of using cryopreserved pancreatic islets in rats. Insulin-releasing activity was studied for the purpose of clarifying the function of cryopreserved islets. Cryopreserved pancreatic islets were also transplanted into the portal veins of recipient rats.

Cryopreservation of purified bovine islets of Langerhans.
Transplantation, 1995In this study, bovine islets were isolated by collagenase digestion and density gradient purification, equilibrated stepwise with 3 M dimethylsulfoxide at 24 degrees C, nucleated at -150 degrees C, slow cooled at 0.25 degrees C/min down to -40 degrees C, and finally stored at -150 degrees C.

Transplantation of islets of Langerhans.
Archives of pathology, 1975Transplantation of insulin-secreting tissues is currently being evaluated as a possible method of treating diabetic patients. Isolation of islets of Langerhans from the rat pancreas is now routinely accomplished, and methods for islet isolation from the human pancreas are being explored. Transplantation of isolated islets into isologous rats is capable
