Histone deacetylase inhibitors as venetoclax‐sensitising partners in acute myeloid leukaemia: Mechanisms, pharmacology and translational perspectives

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 21, Page 6261-6290, November 2026.
Abstract Venetoclax combined with hypomethylating agents has improved treatment for older or unfit patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but resistance and relapse remain common. This review analyses the rationale for combining venetoclax with inhibitors of histone deacetylase (HDAC).

Structural analysis of monomeric isocitrate dehydrogenase from corynebacterium glutamicum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In this research project, structural aspects of monomeric NADP+-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase from Corynebacterium glutamicum (CgIDH) are investigated together with site-directed mutagenesis and fluorescence spectroscopy studies.

Characterization of NADP(+)-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase isozymes from a psychrophilic bacterium, Colwellia psychrerythraea strain 34H [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
NADP(+)-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) isozymes of a psychrophilic bacterium, Colwellia psychrerythraea strain 34H, were characterized. The coexistence of monomeric and homodimeric IDHs in this bacterium was confirmed by Western blot analysis ...

Unraveling the epigenetic code in cancer cell–tumor microenvironment crosstalk

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 10, Page 2510-2532, October 2026.
Epigenetic regulation is a key driver of cancer development and progression. Diverse epigenetic alterations in cancer cells and components of the tumor microenvironment (TME) orchestrate their communication through multiple mechanisms. We discuss how the epigenetic code coordinates bidirectional cancer cell–TME crosstalk to promote cancer progression ...

TET1 Inhibition Promotes Therapeutic Sensitivity in TP53‐Mutant GBM by Influencing Genome Fragility and Altering TAMs Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 55, 5 October 2026.
In TP53mut GBM cells, reduced P53 function is associated with increased TET1 expression. Genetic or pharmacological inhibition of TET1 correlates with genome fragility, including DNA damage, cellular senescence, telomere shortening, and reactive oxygen species accumulation, which may contribute to increased efficacy of antitumor therapy.

Spray‐Dried Engineered Escherichia coli Whole‐Cell Biocatalysts Enable Cell Recycling and In Vivo α‐Ketoglutarate and NADPH Regeneration for Efficient Codeine Manufacture

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 10, Page 2629-2642, October 2026.
ABSTRACT A recombinant whole‐cell biocatalytic approach provides several advantages over isolated enzymes, such as improved enzyme stability, in vivo cofactor regeneration, and the facilitation of cascade reactions within a single cell. Whole‐cell biocatalysis has gained attention in medicinal opioid production, due to its technical and economic ...

Metabolic Flux Analysis Reveals Cell Line‐Specific Rewiring in CHO Cells Following TCA Cycle Intermediate Feeding for Bioprocess pH Control

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 10, Page 2713-2728, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are the leading host for recombinant therapeutic protein production in the biopharma industry. In this study, we investigated how feeding acidic forms of tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle intermediates—malic acid, succinic acid, and α‐ketoglutaric acid—affects cell culture performance and metabolism in two ...

Factors Associated With Perceived Cognitive Dysfunction in Patients With Primary Brain Tumors: The Utility of the Neuro‐QoL Cognition Function Scale

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Primary brain tumor (PBT) patients commonly experience cognitive dysfunction. This study aims to describe the prevalence and factors associated with perceived cognitive function (PCF) in PBT patients enrolled in a natural history study (NCT02851706: Principal Investigator T. S. Armstrong).
