The Validation of the sickle scan technique used to diagnose sickle cell disease

open access: yesOrapuh Journal
Introduction Sickle cell disease is a multifactorial haemoglobinopathy that causes various abnormalities in affected individuals. Several diagnostic methods exist, but most require sophisticated techniques that are not available in Congolese ...

Genetic purity testing of pumpkin hybrid seed by ultrathin-layer isoelectric focusing [PDF]

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2013
Ultrathin-layer isoelectric focusing of seed proteins was used to test the genetic purity of pumpkin hybrid seeds. In the pH range of 5-8, one male marker band and two female marker bands were found in the male and female parental line, respectively. Based

αS1-casein in goat milk: identification of genetic variants by Capillary Zone Electrophoresis compared to Isoelectric Focusing

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2011
AlphaS1 casein fraction in caprine milk is characterized by an important polymorphism due to substitution, deletion of amino acids and post trascriptional modifications (Grosclaude et al., 1994; Ferranti et al., 1997).

ProSiteHunter: A Unified Framework for Sequence‐Based Prediction of Protein‐Nucleic Acid and Protein‐Protein Binding Sites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study proposed a unified sequence‐based framework for protein binding site prediction, which adopted a tri‐track semantic multi‐source feature fusion strategy to effectively capture diverse macromolecular interaction sites and further improved the accuracy of antibody‐antigen interaction prediction.

Microchip isoelectric focusing with monolithic immobilized pH gradient materials for proteins separation

open access: yes, 2009
Monolithic immobilized pH gradient (M-IPG) materials were prepared in microchannles by photoinitiated polymerization of acrylamide, glycidylmethacrylate and Bis, followed by the attachment of focused Ampholine onto the surface of porous monoliths via ...

Mechanistic Understanding of Protein–MOF Integration Through Surfactant‐Driven Interfacial Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals how surfactant‐driven interfacial design governs the assembly and stability of protein@MOF composites. Using lipid‐based nonionic surfactants, we modulate protein–MOF interactions to improve encapsulation efficiency, MOF crystallization, and catalytic performance.

Quantification of apoC-II and apoC-III of human very low density lipoproteins by analytical isoelectric focusing.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1978
ApoC-II and apoC-III of human very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) have been quantified by analytical isoelectric focusing (IEF) between pH 4 and 6 in polyacrylamide gels containing 8 M urea.

TDP‐43 Aggregation: The Healthy‐Toxic Balance of the Prion‐Like Domain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TDP‐43 function relies on a delicate balance between reversible phase‐separated states and irreversible aggregation. Under physiological conditions, TDP‐43 forms dynamic droplets and oligomers that support normal cellular functions. In pathological contexts, this balance shifts toward aberrant aggregation, leading to toxic species.

Isoelectric Focusing of Cassava Protoplasts [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1991
Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) protoplast was analyzed by using isoelectric focusing techniques. Two populations, representing 68 and 32% of the total sample, with mean isoelectric points of 4.48 and 4.60, were obtained using mesophyll protoplasts.
