Depolymerisation of γ‐Valerolactone Organosolv Lignins with Unsupported Molybdenum‐Based Catalysts

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 3, February 2026.
Lignins from γ‐valerolactone organosolv fractionation were depolymerised in ethanol using unsupported molybdenum catalysts. Over 90% yields of low‐molecular‐weight lignin oil were obtained with minimal char formation, yields of the aromatic monomers being 7–16 wt%.

Iron‐Catalyzed Tunable Double Bond Migration and Geometrical Isomerization in Olefins via a Spin‐Accelerated Alkyl Mechanism

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 50, December 8, 2025.
A readily accessible, well‐defined iron(II) catalyst that demonstrates high efficiency and versatility in positional and geometrical alkene isomerization is presented. A comprehensive mechanistic study suggests an alkyl mechanism via an isolable iron hydride species and indicates the stereo‐ and rate‐determining β‐hydride elimination step exhibits a ...

Crystal structure of the monoglycidyl ether of isoeugenol

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Crystallographic Communications, 2022
The title compound, C13H16O3 [GE-isoEu; systematic name: 2-({2-methoxy-4-[(E)-1-propen-1-yl]phenoxy}methyl)oxirane], which crystallizes in the triclinic P\overline{1} space group, was synthesized in one step from iso-eugenol, a bio-based phenylpropanoid, with an excess of epichlorohydrin.

Efficacy, Safety and Biological Characteristics of Formulation Based on Essential Oil Against Co‐Infections of Herpes Simplex Virus‐1 and Candida albicans

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 1, February 2026.
Essential oils with anti‐HSV‐1 activity were identified through literature review and tested against Candida to develop a formulation for co‐infections. The blend was assessed for anti‐inflammatory properties, allergenic potential via standardized BAT, and overall antiviral efficacy.

Nociceptive Threshold of Calves and Goat Kids Undergoing Injection of Clove Oil or Isoeugenol for Disbudding

open access: yesAnimals, 2020
In this preliminary study, we compared changes in mechanical nociceptive thresholds (MNT) of calves and goat kids injected with clove oil or isoeugenol under the horn bud as a potential, more welfare-friendly alternative to hot-iron disbudding.

Quantitative analysis method for isoeugenol in fishery products using gas chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry

open access: yesApplied Biological Chemistry
Isoeugenol, an anesthetic used in marine products, has different regulations in each country and there is controversy regarding the degree of risk. Therefore, it is necessary to establish reliable analytical methods for detection and quantification.

Development of a colloidal gold immunoassay for the detection of four eugenol compounds in water

open access: yesFood and Agricultural Immunology, 2019
A monoclonal antibody (mAb), 2C9, selective for four eugenol compounds, was developed based on the eugenol derivatives (Eug-1). The semi-inhibitory concentrations (IC50) of this antibody against eugenol, isoeugenol, methyl eugenol, and methyl isoeugenol ...
