Dose-dependent effects of isoflurane on TrkB and GSK3β signaling: Importance of burst suppression pattern [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Objectives: Deep burst-suppressing isoflurane anesthesia regulates signaling pathways connected with antidepressant responses in the rodent brain: activation of TrkB neurotrophin receptor and inhibition of GSK3 beta kinase (glycogen synthase kinase 3 ...

Biomimetic Co‐delivery of Lenvatinib and FePt Nanoparticles for Enhanced Ferroptosis/Apoptosis Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel HCC treatment using poly lactic‐co‐glycolic acid (PLGA) nanoparticles encased in HCC cell membranes to co‐deliver Lenvatinib and FePt nanoparticles. This approach improves treatment efficacy by enhancing ferroptosis and apoptosis.

Isoflurane produces antidepressant effects and induces TrkB signaling in rodents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A brief burst-suppressing isoflurane anesthesia has been shown to rapidly alleviate symptoms of depression in a subset of patients, but the neurobiological basis of these observations remains obscure.

Ovarian Function Restoration with Biomimetic Scaffold Incorporating Angiogenic Molecules and Antioxidant in Chemotherapy‐Induced Perimenopausal Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study developed a biomimetic scaffold incorporating PDRN and melatonin to restore ovarian function in chemotherapy‐induced premature ovarian insufficiency, enhancing cell survival, folliculogenesis, and hormone normalization, while improving fertility rates and offspring in a mouse model, offering a promising strategy for ovarian function ...

Do the Manual or Computer-Controlled Flowmeters Generate Similar Isoflurane Concentrations in Tafonius?

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2019
Introduction: Tafonius is an anesthesia machine with computer-controlled monitor and ventilator. We compared the isoflurane fluctuations in the circuit with manual (MF) or computer-driven (CF) flowmeters, investigated the origin of the differences and ...

Hydrogel Adhesive Integrated‐Microstructured Electrodes for Cuff‐Free, Less‐Invasive, and Stable Interface for Vagus Nerve Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, a cuff‐free, less‐invasive surgical approach for vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) by combining ultrathin Y‐shaped kirigami electrodes is developed with a chemically cross‐linked hydrogel adhesive (hydrogel‐kirigami). Unlike conventional cuff implantation, which may damage nerves and nearby critical vessels, this new technique minimizes ...

Isoflurane depresses hippocampal CA1 glutamate nerve terminals without inhibiting fiber volleys

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2006
Background Anesthetic-induced CNS depression is thought to involve reduction of glutamate release from nerve terminals. Recent studies suggest that isoflurane reduces glutamate release by block of Na channels.

Ischemic Myocardium Targeting Peptide‐Guided Nanobubbles for Multimodal Imaging and Treatment of Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Nanobubbles functionalized with indocyanine green and ischemic myocardium‐targeting peptide effectively target cardiomyocytes and enable the multimodal (fluorescence, ultrasonic, and photoacoustic) imaging of ischemic myocardium in mice with coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD).

Overpressure isoflurane at Caesarean section: a study of arterial isoflurane concentrations

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1994
In this study we have measured arterial concentrations of isoflurane obtained during Caesarean section in two groups of patients. Patients in group 1 received 1% isoflurane throughout operation, whilst those in group 2 received 2% isoflurane for the first 5 min, 1.5% for the next 5 min and 0.8% thereafter.
