Isolation of Chloroplast Envelope Membranes
Nature, 1970LITTLE is known of the nature of the chloroplast envelope: investigations have been concerned chiefly with its role in granal membrane development (for review see ref. 1) and in the transport of metabolites between the chloroplast and the cytoplasm2–13.

Antigenicity of isolated synaptosomal membranes
Experimental Neurology, 1974Abstract An antiserum has been prepared against an isolated synaptosomal membrane preparation obtained from chick forebrain. Immunohistochemical localization studies showed that the antiserum reacts with nerve terminal membranes and preterminal axonal membranes in the central nervous system.

Many approaches to the study of the composition and molecular architecture of membranes require their isolation free of other cellular components. Several uncertainties inherent in such isolations must be considered in the interpretation of any experimental data. Some sources of ambiguity are as follows.

The plasma membrane exists as the interface between the cytosol and the environment in all living cells and is probably the most complex and differentiated membrane. The membrane differs between cells of different organs or tissues, and in several animal cell types, the plasma membrane consists of distinct domains of different structural, compositional,

Transport in isolated plasma membranes
American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 1978Plasma membrane vesicles constitute a simpler experimental system for studying transport compared to cells or intact tissue. The principal advantages of the vesicle approach are the elimination of metabolism as a complicating factor and the ability to control the composition of the solutions on both sides of the membrane.

Isolation of the plasma membrane
1986Publisher Summary Plasma membranes of plants are purified by using either sucrose gradients or aqueous two-phase system consisting of Dextran T 500 and polyethyleneglycol 3350. The sucrose gradient separation takes advantage of the different sizes and densities of the various membranes in the cell, whereas the two-phase polymer system takes advantage

Isolation of Yeast Plasma Membranes
2003The plasma membrane is dynamic, with both its lipid and protein composition changing to facilitate adaptation to the ambient conditions. Biochemical activities to pre-existing proteins will also change. To monitor these variations, the cell membrane must be isolated.

Isolation of Plasma Membrane and Plasma Membrane Microdomains
2016The plasma membrane surrounds the cytoplasm of a cell and functions as a barrier to separate the intracellular compartment from the extracellular environment. Protein and lipid components distribute nonuniformly and the components form clusters with various functions in the plasma membrane.

Reoperation after isolated subaortic membrane resection
Cardiology in the Young, 2019AbstractBackground:The resection of a subaortic membrane remains far from a curative operation. We sought to examine factors associated with reoperation and the degree of aortic valve regurgitation as a potential long-term source for reoperation. Methods:All patients who underwent resection of an isolated subaortic membrane between 1995 and 2018 were ...

Junctional ultrastructure in isolated synaptic membranes
Journal of Neurocytology, 1975The ultrastructure of synaptic junctions in whole brain tissue and isolated synaptic membranes has been compared. Type 1 junctions are present in the isolated membranes, readily identified by the presence of dense-staining material associated with the postsynaptic membrane, but the dense projections present at the presynaptic membrane in intact tissue ...
