β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli with particular attention to the German outbreak strain O104:H4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This review deals with the epidemiology and ecology of enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC), a subset of the verocytotoxigenic Escherichia coli (VTEC), and subsequently discusses its public health concern.

Diverse reductive dehalogenases are associated with Clostridiales-enriched microcosms dechlorinating 1,2-dichloroethane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The achievement of successful biostimulation of active microbiomes for the cleanup of a polluted site is strictly dependent on the knowledge of the key microorganisms equipped with the relevant catabolic genes responsible for the degradation process.

Microbiological characteristics of Streptococcus pneumoniae strains isolated in Yakutsk

open access: yesYakut Medical Journal, 2020
The microbiological and molecular genetic characteristics of S. pneumoniae strains, identified during nasopharyngeal carriage, were determined in patients from the age of 6 months up to 85 years old, living in Yakutsk. The obtained data indicate the prevalence of virulent antibiotic-resistant S.

Isolation and characterization of bacteriophages of rumen bacterium Prevotella bryantii TC1-1

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2000
Sampling, inoculation and extraction procedures were elaborated for the isolation of bacteriophages from cattle rumen fluid. Several strains from four different species of rumen bacterial genus Prevotella were used as indicator organisms as well as ...

Isolation and identification of a cellulolytic Enterobacter from rumen of Aceh cattle

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2017
Aims: The aim of this study was to isolate and identify a cellulolytic bacterium from the rumen fluid of Aceh’s cattle. Biodegradation by cellulolytic rumen bacteria can be used as a source of cellulolytic bacteria that act to degrade feed fibrous ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Plasmide DNA isolation from bacteria and transfection to HEK293 cell line [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Izolace plasmidové DNA je v mikrobiologii důležitou a často využívanou metodou. Samotné izolaci předchází příprava bakteriálních kompetentních buněk a amplifikace plasmidů. V této práci jsou plasmidy CHR2, ASAP1, ASAP-3, ASAP-5 a Kir2.1.

Resuscitation and quantification of stressed Escherichia coli K12 NCTC8797 in water samples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The aim of this study was to investigate the impact on numbers of using different media for the enumeration of Escherichia coli subjected to stress, and to evaluate the use of different resuscitation methods on bacterial numbers. E. coli was subjected to

Microbiological and Molecular Characterization of Staphylococcus hominis Isolates from Blood

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Among Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci (CoNS), Staphylococcus hominis represents the third most common organism recoverable from the blood of immunocompromised patients. The aim of this study was to characterize biofilm formation, antibiotic resistance, define the SCCmec (Staphylococcal Chromosomal Cassette mec) type, and genetic relatedness of ...
