Sulfur‐Boron Lewis Pair‐Catalyzed Hydrohalogenation of Alkynes via Formal Hydrogen Atom Transfer

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A sulfur‐boron Lewis pair enables the stereodivergent hydrohalogenation of alkynes with exclusive Markovnikov selectivity. Mechanistic studies support a proton transfer‐electron transfer (PT‐ET) sequence for vinyl radical formation rather than a concerted hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) pathway.

Dopant‐Tailored Matrices: A Crystal Engineering Strategy for Organic Room‐Temperature Phosphorescent Host–Guest Systems and Beyond

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Rather than selecting dopants to match a pre‐existing host matrix, the dopant‐tailored matrix strategy involves rational engineering of host matrices around a preselected class of dopants by targeting matrix packing motifs that promote synergistic host‐dopant interactions upon doping.

1,2‐Bis(boronate) Arenes by Borylation Directed Borylation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Boron electrophiles derived from tetrabromo‐pyrazaboles and AlCl3 affect the regioselective vicinal double C–H borylation of a range of arenes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). A subsequent pinacol installation step then affords the vicinal bis‐boronate ester‐substituted arene/PAH.

Chemoenzymatic Radiosynthesis of a Gluconate Transporter‐Targeted In Vivo Bacterial Sensor From Clinical [18F]FDG

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An efficient radiosynthesis of fluorine‐18 labeled gluconic acid ([18F]FGA) was developed using two readily available materials, 2‐deoxy‐2‐[18F]fluoro‐D‐glucose ([18F]FDG) and glucose oxidase. [18F]FGA is highly specific for bacterial gluconate metabolism mediated by gluconate permease (GntP) and gluconate kinase (GntK), with rapid clearance, low off ...
