Isonicotinic Acid Hydrazide

1979
Reviews of isonicotinic acid hydrazide (isoniazid, INH ; Structure I) containing speculations on its mode of action have been written by Youatt (1969) and Krishna Murti (1975). This review will describe the important effects of INH on mycobacteria and an attempt will be made to relate these effects to the bactericidal action of the drug.

Antibodies Specific to Isoniazid and Isonicotinic Acid

The Journal of Immunology, 1976
Abstract Rabbit antisera to isoniazid (INH) and its major metabolite, isonicotinic acid (INA), were prepared by immunization with conjugates of these compounds with human serum albumin. The antisera were rendered hapten-specific by exhaustive absorption with the immunizing carrier.

Pyrexia due to isonicotinic acid hydrazide

Journal of Allergy, 1956
Abstract On three occasions institution of isonicotinic acid hydrazide therapy resulted in a severe febrile reaction which subsided promptly with symptomatic care and discontinuation of the drug. Will each episode the untoward symptoms were more severe and the latent period shorter, indicating the development of increasing sensitivity.

Determination of isonicotinic acid hydrazide in urine

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1971
Abstract 1. (1) The 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulphonic acid method for specific determination of isonicotinic acid hydrazide in blood has been modified for use in urine. 2. (2) The modifications include prior semiquantitative determination of isonicotinic acid hydrazide, and its specific oxidation in the sample to provide a control urine which is

Inhibition of transcription by isonicotinic acid hydrazide

Mutation Research, 1976
Isonicotinic acid hydrazide (INH) reacts with the CMP moiety of a polynucleotide at slightly acid and alkaline pH. The reaction product, when used as a template in the cell-free transcription step, greatly diminishes the incorporation of GMP. In this system we were not able to show that INH -- in contrast with hydrazin -- is potentially capable of ...

Isonicotinic Acid Hydrazide

1975
Isonicotinic acid hydrazide (INH), though known as early as 1912 (Meyer and Mally, 1912), was rediscovered in the early 1950’s almost simultaneously by three independent groups of investigators (Fox, 1952 a; Bernstein et al., 1952; Offe et al., 1952).
