ChemInform Abstract: CONDENSED ISOQUINOLINES. XI. IMIDAZO(5,1‐A)ISOQUINOLINES

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1976

3,4-Dihydrobenz[f]isoquinoline and 3,4-dihydrobenz[g]isoquinoline

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1988
AbstractThe isoquinolines (II) and (IX) mentioned in the title are prepared by cyclization of the N‐naphthylethyl formamide (I) or by cyclocondensation of the diacid monoester (V) with urea (VI) and subsequent reduction and dehydrogenation.

Isoquinolines

1988
Publisher Summary Isoquinoline-type alkaloids show biological activities similar to those of morphinane-, protoberberine-, and benzophenanthridine-type alkaloids. The benzophenanthridine alkaloids found in callus cells of poppy are not present in the original plants.

Cyanochlorination and cyanogenation of isoquinoline

Journal of the Chemical Society D: Chemical Communications, 1969
Isoquinoline reacts with potassium cyanide and sulphuryl chloride to give, depending upon the reaction conditions, 4-chloro-1-cyano-, 1,3-dicyano-, 1-aminocarbonyl-3-cyano-, 3-cyano-, and 1-cyano-isoquinoline, thus illustrating a simple method for the direct introduction of chloro- and cyano-substituents into nitrogen heterocycles.

Isoquinolines as receptors for resorcinol

Tetrahedron Letters, 1994
Abstract Multiple condensation reactions based on the Pictet-Gams isoquinoline synthesis lead to receptors for resorcinol. The host-guest interaction is confirmed by anisotropic highfield shifts and by NOE enhancement between aryl protons.
