LC Determination of Isosorbide-5-Mononitrate in Human Plasma

Chromatographia, 2009
A simple, sensitive, selective and cost effective LC–UV method was developed for determination of isosorbide mononitrate in human plasma using guaifenesin as an internal standard. Isosorbide mononitrate in plasma was extracted by a single step liquid extraction using tert-butyl methyl ether and chromatographed on a C18 column using water and ...

Introductory Remarks on the Development of Isosorbide-5-Mononitrate

1985
The development of IS-5-MN as a useful drug for the prophylactic treatment of angina pectoris appears to be the final outcome of a wrong conclusion made 12 years ago. At that time and on several occasions later, Needleman et al. [9] claimed that orally administered organic nitrates were inactive due to their complete metabolic inactivation during their

Pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of isosorbide-5-mononitrate in humans.

International journal of clinical pharmacology, therapy, and toxicology, 1986
The relative bioavailability of isosorbide-5-mononitrate from two different formulations (MONOCLAIR, ISMO) was investigated in a double-blind randomized cross-over study in 8 healthy human subjects. After single orale doses of 40 mg the plasma concentration and the urinary excretion of isosorbide-5-mononitrate were measured over 24 hours.

The effect of food on the absorption of slow-release isosorbide-5-mononitrate tablets

European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1988
The influence of food on the absorption characteristics of slow release isosorbide-5-mononitrate tablets was investigated in 10 normal healthy volunteers. There were no differences in the peak concentration achieved or the area under the curve, but the peak concentration occurred later when the drug was administered after food. The apparent elimination

Absorption of Isosorbide‐5‐Mononitrate at Specific Sites in the Gastrointestinal Tract

The Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1994
As part of a development program for controlled‐ and extended‐release formulations of isosorbide‐5‐mononitrate (ISMN), the rate and extent of drug absorption was evaluated after site‐specific delivery in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Seven healthy male subjects received, on separate occasions, 20 mg of ISMN solution orally and via nasogastric tube ...

Slow Release Isosorbide-5-mononitrate: Advantage or Disadvantage?

1987
Slow release formulations have been introduced for numerous cardiovascular drugs. They are designed to release the drug according to a desired release profile. This is achieved by reducing the in vivo dissolution rate in a two-step absorption process: Open image in new ...

[A new antianginal preparation: isosorbide-5-mononitrate].

Kardiologiia, 1991
Repeated treadmill exercise tests were used in 20 patients with stable exercise-induced angina in order to comparatively examine various dosage forms of isosorbide-5-mononitrate (IMN) and isosorbide dinitrate (ID) during their single administration.

Acute Study with Isosorbide-5-Mononitrate in Vasospastic Angina

1987
In clinical practice nitrates have a relevant role for acute and chronic therapy of anginal patients, either alone or in combination with calcium channel blockers or beta blockers [1].

New isosorbide 5-mononitrate derivative with hypotensive activity.

Bollettino chimico farmaceutico, 1989
Synthesis and pharmacological properties of the 5-fluoro-nicotinic ester with isosorbide-5-mononitrate 3 are reported. The new compound shows an in vitro activity on rabbit aortic helical strips five times higher than isosorbide-5-mononitrate. The hypotensive activity in guinea-pigs of 3 is markedly superior to that of 5-ISMN.
