Isosorbide-5-Mononitrate and Atenolol in the Treatment of Stable Exertional Angina
Cardiology, 2008Fourteen men and six women, 48–68 years old, with stable angina and effort-induced ST-segment depression (ST-D) were treated with isosorbide-5-mononitrate (IS-5-MN) 2 × 40 mg/day and/or atenolol (AT) 100 mg/day in a double-blind randomized sequence during two 6-week periods. The patients performed ergometer tests.

Intravenous isosorbide-5-mononitrate in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1990The action of isorsorbide-5-mononitrate (IS-5-MN) infusion (range 6.0 to 10.0 mg/hour) was studied in 24 patients with and without acute heart failure (hemodynamic subsets I to IV) during acute myocardial infarction. Hemodynamic measurements were performed by right-sided cardiac catheterization.

Pharmacokinetics of isosorbide dinitrate and isosorbide-5-mononitrate.
International journal of clinical pharmacology, therapy, and toxicology, 1989Short-acting nitrates like glyceryl trinitrate are most suitable for interrupting attacks of angina pectoris, long-acting nitrates for their prophylaxis. A salient feature of drugs used in prophylaxis is a long duration of action. Among many organic nitrates developed for this purpose, ISDN became the most prominent. ISDN is metabolized to isosorbide-2-

[Isosorbide-5-mononitrate in silent ischemia].
Wiener klinische Wochenschrift, 1995Thirty six patients with documented coronary artery disease and exercise-induced silent ischemia were evaluated in a double-blind randomised placebo-controlled crossover study. The effect of once daily 60 mg sustained-release isosorbide-5-mononitrate (IS-5-MN) was tested on exercise-induced and ambulatory silent ischemia.

Combined Gallopamil and Isosorbide-5-Mononitrate in “Mixed” Angina Pectoris
Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 1992The efficacy of combining gallopamil and isosorbide-5-mononitrate (IS-5-MN) was evaluated in 15 patients with "mixed" angina and documented coronary artery disease who participated in a 4-week, double-blind, double-dummy, crossover, placebo-controlled trial.

[The evaluation of the bioavailability of isosorbide 5-mononitrate].
Polski merkuriusz lekarski : organ Polskiego Towarzystwa Lekarskiego, 1999The aim of this study was to investigate the bioavailability of isosorbide mononitrate (IS-5MN) after oral administration of Monocard 20 mg-capsules, made in "Synteza" â Pharmaceutical-Chemical Company in Poznań. Effox 20 mg, coated tablets from Schwarz Pharma, was used as an counterpart of Monocard 20 mg.

Relationship between pharmacokinetics and hemodynamic tolerance to isosorbide-5-mononitrate
European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1990Healthy male volunteers received three different dose regimens of a controlled-release form of isosorbide-5-mononitrate (IS-5-MN; 60 mg per tablet). Dose regimen I consisted of a single daily dose of 60 mg given for 5 days. Dose regimen II was started with a dose of 60 mg, followed by 30 mg 12 h later and thereafter every 8 h. The last dose, on the 5th

Overview of the Pharmacokinetics of Isosorbide-5-Mononitrate
1987One of the problems of prophylactic antianginal therapy with organic nitrates is without doubt their high first pass effect after oral administration. First observation of a complete inactivation of several organic nitrates when infused into the portal vein of anaesthesized rats prompted Needleman et al.

Poor Tolerance and Limited Effects of Isosorbide-5-Mononitrate in Microvascular Angina
Cardiology, 2015Objectives: To assess the effects of isosorbide-5-mononitrate (ISMN) in patients with microvascular angina (MVA). Methods: We randomized 20 MVA patients, treated with a β-blocker or a calcium antagonist, to 60 mg slow-release ISMN (halved to 30 mg if not tolerated) or placebo ...

Effects of Pentaerythrityl-Tetranitrate and Isosorbide-5-Mononitrate in Experimental Atherosclerosis
1995This study was performed to determine whether long-term treatment with organic nitrovasodilators exhibit pharmacological effects on the development of atherosclerotic lesions and endothelial dysfunction in the cholesterol fed rabbit. The major finding of this study is that PETN, but not ISMN, decreases the extent of aortic intimal lesions and the ...
