The Isotypes of Tubulin

2009
The tubulin molecule is an α/β heterodimer. In most eukaryotes both α-and β-tubulin consist of isotypes encoded by different genes and differing in amino acid sequence. Differences among isotypes are often highly conserved in evolution, suggesting that they have functional significance.
