Biotechnological production of itaconic acid

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2001
Itaconic acid (IA) is an unsaturated dicarbonic organic acid. It can easily be incorporated into polymers and may serve as a substitute for petrochemical-based acrylic or methacrylic acid. It is used at 1-5% as a co-monomer in resins and also in the manufacture of synthetic fibres, in coatings, adhesives, thickeners and binders. The favoured production

Biosynthesis of itaconic acid by aspergillus terreus

Archiv fr Mikrobiologie, 1962
The formation of itaconic, aconitic and other acids from glucose in the presence of some enzyme inhibitors or organic acids by Aspergillus terreus was studied. Moreover, the metabolic activities of the preformed mats when floated on solutions of some organic acids were traced.

PATHWAY FOR THE DISSIMILATION OF ITACONIC AND MESACONIC ACIDS

Journal of Bacteriology, 1961
Brightman, Vernon (The University of Chicago, Chicago), and William R. Martin . Pathway for the dissimilation of itaconic and mesaconic acids. J. Bacteriol. 82: 376–382. 1961.—Studies on the oxidation of itaconic and mesaconic acids by a Pseudomonas sp ...

Chloroarylation and thiocyanatoarylation of itaconic acid

Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2013
Under conditions of Meerwein reaction and anionarylation the aryldiazonium salts and itaconic acid form 2-chloro(thiocyanato)-2-benzylbutanedioic acids as the chloro- and thiocyianatoarylation products. The reaction is not accompanied by the decarboxylation process and other transformations affecting the carboxy groups of itaconic acid.

Polymerization of itaconic acid derivatives

Journal of Polymer Science Part A-1: Polymer Chemistry, 1967
AbstractThe γ‐ray‐initiated polymerization of dimethyl itaconate was studied. Dimethyl itaconate was polymerized by γ‐irradiation at temperatures where the monomer does not polymerize thermally; so long as the monomer is kept in a liquid state, even at temperatures below the melting point, the polymerization takes place.

The preparation of poly(itaconic acid)

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1975
AbstractPoly(itaconic acid) (3) was prepared by polymerizing itaconic anhydride in xylene at 60°C with 2,2'‐azodiisobutyronitrile (AIBN) and hydrolyzing the resulted poly(itaconic anhydride) with water. 3 was identified by the elemental analysis. IR and 1H‐NMR spectra, and converting it to poly(dimethyl itaconate).

Solubility of itaconic and kojic acids

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 1992
The solubility of itaconic acid in water and kojic acid in water, acetone, and N,N-dimethylformamide, respectively, was determined from 0.5 to 69 o C. The metastable zone width for the aqueous solutions of both compounds was determined by the polythermic ...

[81] Itaconic acid enzymes

1962
Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on itaconic acid enzymes; and describes the assay method, purification procedure, and properties of cis-Aconitic Acid Decarboxylase from Aspergillus terreus. In assay, the activity of the deearboxylase has been determined by following the evolution of carbon dioxide by standard manometric procedures.
