Rising Cellular Immune Response after Injection of pVax/iutA: A Genetic DNA Cassette as Candidate Vaccine against Urinary Tract Infection

open access: yesIranian Journal of Public Health, 2016
Background: Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) are major bacterial agent of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). This infection is more prevalent among women because approximately half of all women will experience a UTI in their life-time and near a quarter

Analisis Marka Gen Patogenik iutA Escherichia Coli Penyebab Colibasilosis pada Ayam Buras

open access: yesBuletin Veteriner Udayana, 2021

tolQis required for cloacin DF13 susceptibility inEscherichia coliexpressing the aerobactin/cloacin DF13 receptor IutA [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1992
We investigated the role of the tolQ gene in the import of cloacin DF13 across the outer membrane of Escherichia coli strains expressing the IutA receptor. The IutA outer-membrane protein is the receptor for the siderophore ferric aerobactin and also binds cloacin DF13, a bacteriocin produced by strains of Enterobacter aerogenes.

A Novel Aerobactin Utilization Cluster in Vibrio vulnificus with a Gene Involved in the Transcription Regulation of the iutA Homologue [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, 2005
AbstractWe demonstrated that Vibrio vulnificus M2799 utilizes aerobactin for growth as an exogenous siderophore under iron‐limiting conditions, concomitant with enhanced production of the 76‐kDa iron‐repressible outer membrane protein. Subsequently, by applying the Fur titration assay method to the M2799 genomic libraries followed by further cloning of

Evolutionary Origins and Virulence Determinants of ST25 Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae in Swine: Genomic Insights and Functional Validation. [PDF]

open access: yesTransbound Emerg Dis
The global spread of multidrug‐resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (MDR‐HvKp), among which carbapenem‐resistant strains are of major concern, poses a severe threat to public health due to its high mortality rate and extremely limited treatment options.

Determination of atmospherically deposited microplastics in moss: Method development and performance evaluation

open access: yesGreen Analytical Chemistry, 2023
The investigation of atmospheric microplastic pollution is a rising topic within microplastic research. However, sampling strategies concerning atmospheric microplastics are not standardized yet and strongly depend on the scientific objectives ...

Aerobactin synthesis genes iucA and iucC contribute to the pathogenicity of avian pathogenic Escherichia coli O2 strain E058. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Aerobactin genes are known to be present in virulent strains and absent from avirulent strains, but contributions of iucC and iucA, which are involved in aerobactin synthesis, to the pathogenicity of avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) have not been

Colimetric index and virulence genes iss and iutA in Escherichia coli isolates in cellulitis of poultry carcasses under sanitary inspection [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Saúde e Produção Animal, 2018
SUMMARY Current study determines the population of total coliforms and Escherichia coli and identifies iss and iutA virulence genes in Escherichia coli strains isolated from cellulitis in poultry carcasses retrieved from a slaughterhouse. One hundred cellulitis lesions were collected between August 2013 and January 2014.

Effects of Zeolite on Virulence Gene Content in Avian Pathogenic Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Int
Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) continues to be a major concern for public health and animal farming due to its diverse virulence factors that support iron uptake, adherence, toxin release, and resistance to host defenses. While natural zeolites are commonly incorporated into animal feed for their detoxifying, buffering, and adsorption ...
