Genomic Insights Into Carbapenem‐Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in Pediatric Bloodstream Infections in Zhejiang, China (2019–2024)

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 10, May 2026.
The primary mechanism of carbapenem resistance identified in pediatric CRKP‐BSI strains was the production of Class B metalloenzymes. We report, for the first time, an outbreak of bloodstream infections in a neonatal ward caused by the dissemination of NDM‐1‐producing ST25 K. pneumoniae.

Multivariate Analysis of Factors Influencing the Concentration of Persistent Organic Pollutants and Microplastics in Mosses Sampled Across Germany in 2020

open access: yesAtmosphere
Mosses (Bryophyta) are well-established biomonitors of atmospheric deposition, including persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and microplastics (MPs). Using German Moss Survey 2020 data, this study identified factors influencing POPs and MPs in mosses ...

Influence of Disc Temperature on Ultrafine, Fine, and Coarse Particle Emissions of Passenger Car Disc Brakes with Organic and Inorganic Pad Binder Materials

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
Passenger car disc brakes are a source of ultrafine, fine, and coarse particles. It is estimated that 21% of total traffic-related PM10 emissions in urban environments originate from airborne brake wear particles.

Aerobactin-Mediated Iron Acquisition Enhances Biofilm Formation, Oxidative Stress Resistance, and Virulence of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
Aerobactin is a citrate-hydroxamate siderophore that is critical for the virulence of pathogenic enteric bacteria. However, although the aerobactin-producing iucABCD-iutA operon is distributed widely in the genomes of Yersinia species, none of the ...

Emergence and Genomic Characterization of a Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolate From a New Clone in Brazil

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, Volume 70, Issue 5, Page 261-267, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKp) has emerged globally as a major public health concern, often associated with severe community‐acquired and healthcare‐associated human infections. Despite alerts from PAHO/WHO on convergent hvKp strains with multidrug resistance in Latin America, comprehensive data from Brazil, the region's largest ...

Identification of microplastics in wastewater after cascade filtration using Pyrolysis-GC–MS

open access: yesMethodsX, 2020
The combination of a representative microplastic sampling method and a fast-quantitative analysis using Pyrolysis-GC–MS (Py-GC–MS) for investigation of the microplastic load and mass balances is presented in this work.

MOLECULAR DETECTION OF SOME VIRULENCE GENES OF E.COLI ISOLATES FROM MEAT AND MEAT PRODUCT IN PORT-SAID GOVERNORATE [PDF]

open access: yesAssiut Veterinary Medical Journal, 2020
Food stuffs of animal origin may present hazards, due to bacterial contamination. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence, serotypes, and virulence genes of Escherichia coli in raw beef meat and some of meat products (raw, minced meat, beef ...

Silicon‐Rich Amorphous SiCx for the Lithium‐Ion Batteries: How Does Strong Carbon Doping Affect the Lithiation Behavior and Electrochemical Performance?

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
In this article, amorphous substoichiometric silicon carbide (a‐SiCx), which is produced from a scalable gas‐phase process, is investigated on the influence of the carbon concentration on the electrochemical performance. Thorough testing in half‐cells combined with material analysis and postmortem studies reveals a promising material with virtually no ...
