Characteristics of the Fishing Ground of Japanese Sardine off Sanriku during Northward Migration.

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1994
Very little research has been done on the mechanism for forming fishing grounds, particularly on the route by which Japanese sardine Sardinops melanostictus migrate to the Sanriku coast during their northward migration. Moving direction of Japanese sardine school on the basis of aerial surveys.

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1985
The flight surveys were conducted five times during the day in the waters off the southeast coast of Hokkaido where a big catch of sardine Sardinops melanosticta has been taken. In the area sardine schools were easily sighted, but were only distinguished by dark color against lighter background of the sea.
