A Numerical Investigation of Impinging Jet Cooling with Nanofluids
Nanoscale and Microscale Thermophysical Engineering, 2014Nanofluids exhibit interesting heat transfer enhancement capabilities that may render them good candidates for use in industrial applications. They can be used as a cooling medium to spray onto the bottom of a piston to reduce the overall heat load during the operation of an engine.

Liquid Jet Impingement Cooling of a Rotating Disk
Journal of Heat Transfer, 1986Results are presented from an experimental study conducted to determine the average convective heat transfer coefficient for the side of a rotating disk, with an approximately uniform surface temperature, cooled by a single liquid jet of oil impinging normal to the surface.

Submerged Jet Impingement Cooling of a Nanostructured Plate
Volume 7: Fluid Flow, Heat Transfer and Thermal Systems, Parts A and B, 2010In this paper, the results of a series of heat transfer experiments conducted on a compact electronics cooling device based on single phase jet impingement techniques are reported. Deionized-water is propelled into four microchannels of inner diameter 685 μm which are used as nozzles and located at a nozzle to surface distance of 2.5mm.

Spot-Cooling by Confined, Impinging Synthetic Jet
Heat Transfer: Volume 3, 2003Spot-cooling of discrete electronic packages mounted on a printed wiring board (PWB) is achieved by the impingement of an axisymmetric synthetic jet when the jet actuator is attached to one board and cools target integrated circuit (IC) on the opposite board.

Cooling Characteristics of Two-Phase Impinging Jets
Heat Transfer: Volume 2 — Heat Transfer in Multiphase Systems, 2001Abstract Cooling of surfaces is often carried out in devices consisting of arrays of round nozzles, through which coolant impinges vertically upon the surfaces. To enhance the heat transfer coefficient and save the amount of coolant, two-phase jets were applied to the cooling of copper surface of 30mm in diameter.

Fluidic Oscillators in Impingement Jet Cooling: a Novel Configuration for Realizing Sweeping Jets
Volume 6: Heat Transfer: General Interest/ Additive Manufacturing Impacts on Heat Transfer; Heat Transfer: Internal Air Systems; Heat Transfer: Internal Cooling; Industrial & CogenerationAbstract This study examines integrating fluidic oscillators into a multi-jet impingement cooling system for turbomachinery, aiming to enhance heat transfer while reducing coolant requirements. The investigated configuration features multiple inline impingement jets within a square channel under self-induced cross-flow.

Electronic Cooling Using Synthetic Jet Impingement
Journal of Heat Transfer, 2006The efficiency and mechanisms of cooling a constant heat flux surface by impinging synthetic jets were investigated experimentally and compared to cooling with continuous jets. Effects of jet formation frequency and Reynolds number at different nozzle-to-surface distances (H∕d) were investigated.

Impingement cooling of a confined circular air jet
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1997A measurement of the local Nusselt number of a confined circular air jet vertically impinging on a flat plate is performed. The jet flow, after impingement, is constrained to exit in two opposite directions. Part of the impinging surface is maintained at a constant heat flux condition and the rest is adiabatic.

A Review of Impingement Jet Cooling in Combustor Liner
Volume 5C: Heat Transfer, 2018Impingement jet cooling is a promising cooling method in modern dry low emission combustor because of its high local heat transfer coefficient. This paper investigates the recent research progress on impingement jet cooling in combustor liner. Firstly, the different flow characteristics in the different impingement jet flow regions are described. Then,

Impinging water jet cooling of VLSI circuits
International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 1984Abstract This communication describes a new method of cooling of planar Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) circuits which allows one to obtain chip heat fluxes in excess of 500 W/cm2 with acceptable temperature rises. It is shown that by scaling impinging fluid jet heat transfer technology to small geometrical dimensions, and by using water as the ...
