The Economics of Youth Job Search Behavior
The Review of Economics and Statistics, 1976A main goal of this empirical analysis of job search behavior is to test several hypotheses of the theoretical and empirical job search literature using observations on unemployed young men. Better understanding of job search differences between white and black youth is a secondary goal.

Feedback, Confidence and Job Search Behavior
SSRN Electronic JournalWe conduct a field experiment with job seekers to investigate how feedback influences job search and labor market outcomes. Job seekers who receive feedback on their ability compared to other job seekers update their beliefs and increase their search effort. Specifically, initially underconfident individuals intensify their job search.

Job search behavior: lessons from online job search [PDF]
While there is a large body of theoretical work about the job search process, there is relatively little empirical evidence about important aspects of workers’ search behavior. A new database of online job posting data sheds light on how workers search for jobs.

The Job Search Behavior of Employed Youth
The Review of Economics and Statistics, 1991An employed worker's search strategies include (1) employed-not searching, (2) employed-searching, and (3) unemployed-searching. The last requires that the worker quit to search. Under plausible assumptions on search costs, the optimal algorithm involves a dual reservation wage strategy (Burdett, 1978). The probability of on-the-job search increases as

Unemployed people in search of a job: Reconsidering the role of search behavior
Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2008A three-wave longitudinal study of unemployed persons in Croatia was utilized to examine the antecedents of job-seeking behavior and (re)employment. A series of demographic, motivational and job-constraint variables were posited to influence job-seeking behavior, which, in turn, was hypothesized to affect (re)employment.

Motivation and Self-Regulation in Job Search: A Theory of Planned Job Search Behavior
2016Job search is a difficult and complex process that demands prolonged motivation and self-regulation. Mentoring and Job Search Behaviors: A Moderated Mediation Model of Job Search Self-Efficacy
Journal of Career Development, 2019Limited research exists around how to effectively enhance the job search behaviors and self-efficacy of job seekers during the job search process. In the current study, we investigated whether mentoring functions (i.e., career and psychosocial functions) are related to job search behaviors through job search self-efficacy.
