Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Development of the weldbond process for joining titanium [PDF]
High quality resistance spot welds were produced by welding through epoxy adhesive on titanium alloys. Weldbond joints were consistently stronger than those of either mechanical fasteners, structural adhesive bonds, or mechanical fasteners with adhesive ...

Fire resistance of steel beam to square CFST column composite joints using RC slabs: Experiments and numerical studies [PDF]
In this paper, experimental investigation and numerical simulation of steel beam to square concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) column composite joints that use reinforced concrete (RC) slabs subjected to localized and global fire conditions are presented ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Active joints for microrobot limbs [PDF]
The authors propose an electrostatic actuator for active joints. The active joint consists of two plates, one of which is a bilayer and bent by the bimorph effect. The plates are clamped to each other at one edge.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A case of knuckle pad syndrome in a middle‐aged man
Knuckle pads are benign papules, nodules, or plaques overlying joints and typically manifest at the proximal interphalangeal joints (PIPs). They may be confused with other dermatologic or rheumatologic diseases. Treatment options for primary knuckle pads

Recent research and development in semi-rigid composite joints with precast hollowcore slabs [PDF]
Composite structure incorporating steel beams and precast hollowcore slabs is a recently developed composite floor system for building structures. This form of composite construction is so far limited to simple beam-column connections.
