JPSS-1 VIIRS pre-launch radiometric performance [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2015
The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on-board the first Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) completed its sensor level testing on December 2014. The JPSS-1 (J1) mission is scheduled to launch in December 2016, and will be very similar to the Suomi-National Polar-orbiting Partnership (SNPP) mission.

Sleep Quality in Chronic Pain Patients With and Without Strong Opioid Use: An Observational Study Using a Wearable Device [PDF]

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 45, Issue 3, September 2025.
Low‐dose strong opioids improved sleep efficiency in chronic pain patients, whereas high doses (≥ 60 mg MEDD) impaired sleep. Wearable device and self‐report data highlight the need for careful opioid titration and sleep monitoring to balance analgesia with preservation of sleep quality.

Characterizing Particulate Matter Impacts of Smoke From 2022 to 2023 Agricultural Burning in South Florida [PDF]

open access: yesGeoHealth, Volume 10, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Smoke from agricultural fires is a potentially important source of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in the US. Sugarcane is burned in Florida to facilitate the harvesting process, with the majority of these fires occurring in the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA), where there is only one regulatory air quality monitor.
