Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Reliability Analysis of a Steel Frame
A steel frame with haunches is designed according to Eurocodes. The frame is exposed to self-weight, snow, and wind actions. Lateral-torsional buckling appears to represent the most critical criterion, which is considered as a basis for the limit state ...

Modelling river flows as jump-diffusion processes
The streamflow of a river is modelled as a jump-diffusion process. The jump size is distributed as an exponential random variable. The various parameters of the model are estimated by using the method of moments.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Kolmogorov’s equations for jump Markov processes with unbounded jump rates [PDF]
As well-known, transition probabilities of jump Markov processes satisfy Kolmogorov's backward and forward equations. In the seminal 1940 paper, William Feller investigated solutions of Kolmogorov's equations for jump Markov processes. Recently the authors solved the problem studied by Feller and showed that the minimal solution of Kolmogorov's ...

Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Effect of the Kapitza temperature jump on thermal processes in nanofluids
Two analytical solutions describing thermal processes in a nanofluid based on spherical nanoparticles taking into account the Kapitza temperature jump on a particle-fluid boundary were found.

Markov branching processes with disasters: extinction, survival and duality to p-jump processes
A $p$-jump process is a piecewise deterministic Markov process with jumps by a factor of $p$. We prove a limit theorem for such processes on the unit interval.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Characteristic Function of Time-Inhomogeneous L\'evy-Driven Ornstein-Uhlenbeck Processes
Distributional properties -including Laplace transforms- of integrals of Markov processes received a lot of attention in the literature. In this paper, we complete existing results in several ways.
