Religion, Extraction, and Just Transition in Appalachia
This paper employs approaches from religious studies and Appalachian studies to examine the history, influence, and future of a multifaceted ethos of extraction, particularly as it influences the coal industry, in the Appalachian region of the United ...

Li$_2$VO(Si,Ge)O$_4$, a prototype of a two-dimensional frustrated quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnet
NMR and magnetization measurements in Li$_2$VOSiO$_4$ and Li$_2$VOGeO$_4$ are reported. The analysis of the susceptibility shows that both compounds are two-dimensional $S=1/2$ Heisenberg antiferromagnets on a square lattice with a sizeable frustration ...

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

Structural signatures of the unjamming transition at zero temperature
We study the pair correlation function $g(r)$ for zero-temperature, disordered, soft-sphere packings just above the onset of jamming. We find distinct signatures of the transition in both the first and split second peaks of this function.

Financing a Just Transition [PDF]
Climate goals can only be realized with a major shift in financing toward low-carbon, climate-resilient assets, notably infrastructure. Progress has been made, but the world is not currently on a viable let alone a just transition pathway. The rules and norms governing the financial system itself are an important factor shaping financial flows ...

RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

DMTTF-CA revisited: temperature-induced valence and structural instability
We report a detailed spectroscopic investigation of temperature-induced valence and structural instability of the mixed-stack organic charge-transfer (CT) crystal 4,4'-dimethyltetrathiafulvalene-chloranil (DMTTF-CA).
