Clinical and Biological Features of Response in Resistant Neuroblastoma to 131I‐Metaiodobenzylguanidine Radiotherapy in the Anti‐GD2 Immunotherapy Era

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background 131I‐metaiodobenzylguanidine (131I‐MIBG) radiotherapy is a key treatment for relapsed and refractory (R/R) neuroblastoma (NB). Patients with R/R disease treated in the modern era are increasingly exposed to anti‐GD2 immunotherapy, which exerts selective pressure and may modify both tumor cell state and microenvironment.

Genetic modifiers of Duchenne muscular dystrophy and dilated cardiomyopathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
OBJECTIVE: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a major complication and leading cause of death in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). DCM onset is variable, suggesting modifier effects of genetic or environmental factors.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Comparison of nonparametric estimators versus parametric for reliability function

open access: yesIngeniería Investigación y Desarrollo, 2015
One of the main objectives of the area of realiability is to estimate the function of reliability, where traditionally are used non parametric estimators, being more efficient in sample of big sizes.

Comparisons Between the Kaplan-Meier Complement and the Cumulative Incidence for Survival Prediction in the Presence of Competing Events [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Estimating cumulative event probabilities in time-to-event data can be complicated by competing events. Competing events occur when individuals can experience events other than the primary event of interest.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Survival Analysis and its Associated Factors of Beta Thalassemia Major in Hamadan Province

open access: yesIranian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2015
Background: There currently is a lack of knowledge about the long-term survival of patients with beta thalassemia (BT), particularly in regions with low incidence of the disease.

Estimating the Survival Distribution for Right-Censored Data with Delayed Ascertainment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In many clinical trials, patients are not followed continuously. This means their vital status may not be immediately recorded. In such cases, the results from the Kaplan-Meier estimator or the log rank test, popular methods used for survival analysis ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Association between homocysteine levels and hyperlipidemia prevalence as well as all-cause mortality of hyperlipidemia patients in the US population: results from NHANES database

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
ObjectiveSeveral studies have investigated the correlation between blood lipids and homocysteine, but no clear conclusions have been defined yet. Therefore, we utilized data from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) to explore the ...
