Duck gut metagenome reveals the microbiome signatures linked to intestinal regional, temporal development, and rearing condition

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 3, Issue 4, August 2024.
In this study, we constructed the first relatively comprehensive duck gut microbial gene catalog and metagenome‐assembled genomes using 375 duck gastrointestinal tract metagenomic samples from four different duck breeds across five intestinal segments under two distinct rearing conditions. Furthermore, the present study expands the understanding of the

A critical review on bacterial black spot of mango caused by Xanthomonas citri pv. mangiferaeindicae: Current status and direction for future research

open access: yesForest Pathology, Volume 54, Issue 3, June 2024.
Abstract Bacterial black spot (BBS) of mango, caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas citri pv. mangiferaeindicae, is an emerging disease affecting mango‐producing areas in Asia, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. The disease spreads primarily through wind‐driven rain and farm implements, and its host range is limited, affecting mango, cashew, and pepper ...

Update on chiral recognition mechanisms in separation science

open access: yesJournal of Separation Science, Volume 47, Issue 9-10, May 2024.
The stereospecific analysis of chiral molecules is an important issue in many scientific fields. In separation sciences, this is achieved via the formation of transient diastereomeric complexes between a chiral selector and the selectand enantiomers driven by molecular interactions including electrostatic, ion‐dipole, dipole‐dipole, van der Waals or π ...

Evaluation of Kasugamycin for Fire Blight Management, Effect on Nontarget Bacteria, and Assessment of Kasugamycin Resistance Potential in Erwinia amylovora

open access: yes, 2011
The emergence and spread of streptomycin-resistant strains of Erwinia amylovora in Michigan has necessitated the evaluation of new compounds effective for fire blight control. The aminoglycoside antibiotic kasugamycin (Ks) targets the bacterial ribosome

The context of the ribosome binding site in mRNAs defines specificity of action of kasugamycin, an inhibitor of translation initiation

open access: yes, 2022
Kasugamycin (KSG) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic widely used in agriculture and exhibits considerable medical potential. Previous studies suggested that KSG interferes with translation by blocking binding of canonical messenger RNA (mRNA) and initiator ...

The effect of inoculum concentration and time of application of various bactericides on the control of fire blight (Erwinia amylovora) under artificial inoculation

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2002
The efficacy of various bactericides for the control of fire blight (Erwinia amylovora) in pear flowers was tested. Bactericides were applied preventively one day before, or curatively one or three days after artificial inoculation with pathogen ...

Development of Continuous Clean Bioprocess for Kasugamycin Production

open access: yes, 1998

Kasugamycin-dependent mutants of Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1978
Kasugamycin-dependent mutants have been isolated from Escherichia coli B. They were obtained through mutagenesis with ethyl methane sulfonate or nitrosoguanidine in conjunction with an antibiotic underlay technique. In the case of nitrosoguanidine, dependent mutants were obtained at a frequency of about 3% of survivors growing up in the selection.
